Kasper Andersen designs the livery for the FCM Car

Superleague Formula racer Kasper Andersen is a man of many talents. The promising 24-year-old Dane not only is competing for his local FC Midtjylland club in this year’s championship, but he has also designed the livery that will adorn the club’s V12-powered single-seater race car when the club makes its SF debut at Magny-Cours in France later this month.

“I’ve raced lots of cars but this one is definitely going to be the most special. It’s a great honour for me to be representing FC Midtjyland in Superleague Formula and even more exciting as I’ve been given the chance to design the car’s racing colours,” said Andersen who warmed up for the forthcoming Superleague Formula season in spectacular style by winning a Formula Master race recently at Valencia in Spain.

“As all the Superleague cars are identical in terms of their design and technology, it was important to create a livery that both stands out from the pack and is easily identifiable to those FC Midtjylland fans following the on-track action,” continued Andersen. “Luckily I love working with the clever design software on my computer and the club’s black and red colours are very distinctive – they lend themselves to the racing car’s sleek bodywork. I’m very pleased with the results and I hope the fans will like what they see.”
FC Midtjyland President Bo Olesen is certainly impressed. He enthused: “Our racing colours look great. What’s more the crowd gave Kasper’s artwork a big ‘thumbs-up’ when we unveiled the car before a recent home match. Now we are hoping it goes as fast as it looks! We may be a small club but we have big ambitions.”

Superleague Formula
Superleague Formula is the fusion of the two of the world’s most popular sports – capturing the passion of football with the thrill and excitement of motor racing. The new concept features a field of evenly matched V12-powered, 750 horsepower single seater racecars bearing the colours of the world’s leading football teams. Traditional rivals on the pitch are doing battle at some of the world’s greatest racetracks. The series kicked off in 2008 with 12 ‘double-header’ races staged at six of Europe’s premier venues. Underlining the competitive nature of Superleague Formula, no fewer than eight soccer clubs (AC Milan, Al-Ain, Beijing Guoan FC, BVB Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool FC, FC Porto, PSV Eindhoven and Sevilla FC) experienced race victories during what was a dramatic inaugural campaign. Building on this success, an expanded grid will contest the 2009 championship, which starts at Magny-Cours in France on 27/28 June.
