– Ex-Formula 1 Driver Jaime Alguersuari to excite fans in Barcelona as VIP starter

The X-BOW BATTLE, one of the most successful European one-make racing series, starts its new season in two weeks time – and now in its sixth year, it promises to continue to offer exciting, spectacular and well-balanced amateur racing at the highest level!
The first round, at the Formula 1 racing circuit in Barcelona, will already be a highlight in itself. As part of the ‘Espíritu de Montjuïc’ Festival, known throughout Europe for attracting some 60,000 fans each year with its historic Formula 1 and touring cars from a range of eras, the X-BOW BATTLE will be the only part of the program that delivers a modern racing spectacle.
28 participants are registered for the first race of the season, a number that for organizer Georg Silbermayr is extremely optimistic for the remainder of the season: "Already for the last two years, we have had our season’s launch in Spain, but up to now they were only for test drives. It is really great that now 28 drivers from 10 countries will be there for the opening race. This suggests that we will see more than 30 starters at each of the races in Central Europe!"
"In recent years, the events at the Pannoniaring, the Slovakiaring and naturally also the home race at the Red Bull Ring were all incredibly popular." Silbermayr added that that now in lieu of the rather less popular races at the Lausitzring, he has now come up with a real hit. "Instead of the race at the Lausitzring, this year we’re going to the Nürburgring – and we won’t be there alone but rather as the only racing series to be part of the program for the Truck Grand Prix in front of more than 100,000 fans!"
Whether In Barcelona or at the Nürburgring, the title fight in the sixth "BATTLE" is expected to be more exciting than ever before. It is no longer a secret that a fast lady from Salzburg is the official title favorite, namely Laura Kraihamer. After finishing second in the championship last year, she is preparing to become the first woman to win the title in the X-BOW BATTLE. It surely won’t be made easy for her. Last year’s champion, Klaus Angerhofer of Upper Austria and his compatriot, Plus City boss Ernst Kirchmayr will be out to stop her, just as will Austrians Holger Baumgartner and Gerhard Trenker. More strong competition will also come from drivers from other European countries. Uwe Schmidt of Germany, Poland’s Artur Chwist, the Czech Tomas Miniberger, Serbian Petar Matic, Nicolas Leutwiler of Switzerland, Dutchman Jack Rotteveel and some other drivers have the potential to keep the title race open until the final in Rijeka, Croatia.
What is also new, and until now completely open is the X-BOW ROOKIES CHALLENGE, which will start as "a series within the series" as part of the X-BOW BATTLE program. This foretaste into the world of motorsports with the KTM X-BOW is not only popular because of its sensational prices (it is possible to enter an event from €3,500 net), but also offers an interesting, international lineup of starters. Slovenian Sebastian Jakl, Cedric Freiburghaus of Switzerland, and Austrians Jörg Haghofer and Wolfgang Schiessendoppler will contest the entire season. However for every race there will be six other competitors that will be out to make it as difficult as possible for those contesting the entire season.
Starters in the “BATTLE” will also be faced with a similar challenge. There will be a different starter in the KTM VIP car at all six races. In in Barcelona, this will be none other than a very well-known and fast driver – none other than than the former Toro Rosso F1 driver and current Formula-E driver Jaime Alguersuari of Spain. He will attempt to put the established X-BOW BATTLE contestants under pressure in front of his home crowd, and to finish the two races as close to the podium place as possible.
