The famous Prospeed Competition team annouces its arrival in Le Mans Series for the 2010 season! The Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will be driven by Richard Westbrook and Marco Holzer during the five races scheduled this year. More than never, you will have to keep an eye on the GT2 category!

This is the big news of this second and last test day: Matech Competition will enter one of its Ford GTs in the 1000Km of Spa (May 7/8/9) with three handsome Swiss girls -Cindy Alemann, Natacha Gachnang and Raël Frey. As for Belgian Vanina Ickx, she announces that she will be one of the Signature Plus Lola Aston Martin’s drivers for both the 1000 Km of Spa and the 24 Hours of Le Mans!

The Oreca Matmut team took the opportunity of unveiling the great novelty of the 2010 season during the Le Mans Series Official Test days: the Peugeot 908 HDi-FAP has been left to them by the French manufacturer for the whole season as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans!
The car will run tomorrow and on Monday, driven by Olivier Panis, Nicolas Lapierre and Loïc Duval, alongside the 40 prototypes and GTs which are on the entry list for this special test session. The 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans winning car is back on track!
Don’t forget that this weekend there will be more than 40 endurance queens, actually Prototype and GT cars on the track. And they will be in good company since their drivers will be Endurance and Formula 1 stars!
The official launch of the 2010 Le Mans Series season will officially take place on Sunday with the official Test Days where you will see Jean Alesi, Giancarlo Fisichella, Nigel Mansell and Olivier Panis in action, among others!

News that will make motor sport fans mouths water!
Beim Versuch, den prestigeträchtigen Le-Mans-Pokal zurück nach Ingolstadt und Neckarsulm zu holen, überlässt Audi Sport nichts dem Zufall. Nicht nur die Technik des Audi R15 TDI wird weiterentwickelt. Auch der Fahrerkader für die 24 Stunden von Le Mans (Frankreich) wird erweitert.
Mit dem Schweizer Marcel Fässler (33), dem Deutschen André Lotterer (28) und dem Franzosen Benoît Treluyer (33) hat Audi für das berühmteste Langstrecken-Rennen der Welt drei neue Piloten verpflichtet, die sich am 12./13. Juni 2010 das Cockpit eines der insgesamt drei Audi R15 TDI teilen sollen.
Wir wollen und müssen in Le Mans angesichts der starken Konkurrenz auch fahrerisch optimal aufgestellt sein, erläutert Audi-Motorsportchef Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. Deshalb haben wir uns entschlossen, unseren Fahrerkader zu erweitern. Marcel, Andre und Benoît sind uns in den vergangenen beiden Jahren besonders positiv aufgefallen. Sie sind den Umgang mit schnellen Prototypen gewohnt und kennen sich untereinander bestens. Die drei selbst und auch wir sind überzeugt, dass sie eine sehr gute Kombination für Le Mans sind.
Die neuen Audi-Piloten verfügen bereits über Erfahrung am Steuer von Diesel-Rennsportwagen. Marcel Fässler bestritt in der Saison 2008 für Audi erfolgreich zwei Rennen in der American Le Mans Series. André Lotterer beeindruckte im vergangenen Jahr in Le Mans am Steuer eines Audi R10 TDI des privaten Audi-Kundenteams Kolles. Benoît Treluyer startete 2009 beim 24-Stunden-Klassiker mit einem Peugeot.
Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer und Benoît Treluyer waren bereits zu Sitzproben bei Audi Sport in Ingolstadt und werden in Kürze erste Testfahrten mit dem Audi R15 TDI absolvieren. Der erste Renneinsatz für das neue Audi-Fahrertrio ist für den 9. Mai beim 1000-Kilometer-Rennen in Spa-Francorchamps (Belgien) vorgesehen, das dem Audi Sport Team Joest als Generalprobe für die 24 Stunden von Le Mans dient.
Vorläufig konzentrieren sich die Planungen für Marcel, Andre und Benoît ganz auf Le Mans 2010, sagt Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. Alle drei sind aber noch relativ jung und könnten so auch langfristig in unser Sportwagen-Projekt eingebunden werden.
Audi startet seit 1999 bei den 24 Stunden von Le Mans und hat das Rennen bei nur elf Starts bereits achtmal gewonnen. Beim berühmtesten Langstrecken-Rennen der Welt kommt es neben der Schnelligkeit vor allem auch auf Zuverlässigkeit und Effizienz an. Zudem bietet die LMP1-Klasse mehr als jede andere Motorsport-Kategorie die Möglichkeit, technische Innovationen im Renneinsatz zu erproben. Audi hat dabei dank seiner Technologie-Führerschaft immer wieder Meilensteine gesetzt. So führte der Audi R8 im Jahr 2001 erfolgreich die Benzin-Direkteinspritzung TFSI ein, mit dem Audi R10 TDI gewann 2006 erstmals in der Geschichte des Rennens ein Diesel-Fahrzeug.
Stimmen der neuen Audi-Piloten
Marcel Fässler: Audi ist für mich die erfolgreichste Marke in Le Mans. In diesem Jahr ein Teil des Audi-Teams sein zu dürfen, ist unglaublich für mich und eine große Chance, die ich unbedingt nutzen möchte. Ich freue mich total auf die neue Herausforderung mit Audi und erwarte, dass der R15 TDI um den Gesamtsieg fahren wird. Es wird sich zeigen, welches Audi-Team am Ende das glücklichste ist. Wichtig ist, dass der Sieg wieder nach Ingolstadt und Neckarsulm geht.
André Lotterer: Ich bin stolz, von einem so erfolgreichen Team wie Audi Sport auserwählt worden zu sein. Es ist ein wichtiger Karriereschritt für mich. Ich werde mein Bestes geben, damit Audi den Le-Mans-Pokal zurückholt. Ich habe im vergangenen Jahr mit dem R10 TDI des Kolles-Teams als Le-Mans-Rookie viel gelernt noch dazu, weil mein Teamkollege und ich das Rennen zu zweit bestreiten mussten. Nun habe ich die Chance, für ein Top-Team zu starten. Deshalb habe ich nur ein Ziel: den Sieg!
Benoît Treluyer: Für mich wird ein Traum wahr. Ich hatte gar nicht damit gerechnet, nach meiner Rückkehr aus Japan gleich wieder einen Platz in einem Werksteam für Le Mans zu bekommen und das auch noch gemeinsam mit meinem besten Freund André Lotterer und Marcel Fässler, mit dem ich meine Karriere in der Formel Campus begonnen habe. Besser geht es nicht! Wir haben ein Auto, mit dem wir den Gesamtsieg holen können. Vor der Vertragsunterzeichnung bei Audi habe ich das Team beim Testen beobachtet. Die Arbeitsweise und die Einstellung bei Audi sind genau das, was ich gesucht habe.

The first race of the Le Mans Series 2010 season will be held on the Castellet circuit, in the south of France, on 9, 10 and 11 April. This circuit, at the same time ultra modern and firmly rooted in the history of motor sports which has just reopened its doors to the public, has welcomed the Official Tests of the Series since 2004 and will do so again in 2010 on 7 & 8 March.
For an exceptional race, an exceptional format! The opening of the season will not be done with the usual 1000 Km schema (or 6 hours), but will last 8 hours with a late morning start and an arrival at sunset around 7pm.
Note that this round will award the same number of points as a 6 hour race, only races 50% longer than the usual 1000Km distance count double.
