The ING Renault F1 Team concludes its testing programme in Jerez

The ING Renault F1 Team was on track today to complete the final day of testing at the Circuito de Jerez in the south of Spain. The team was again operating a two-car programme with two R28s in action as preparations continue ahead of the opening Grand Prix in Melbourne next month.

Nelson Piquet remained at the wheel of the R28-02 for a third consecutive day, while fellow Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi returned to the cockpit of the R28-01, replacing Fernando Alonso for the final day. The young Brazilian first sampled the R28 on Tuesday and was happy to be back in the cockpit as he continues to familiarise himself with the new car.

Conditions remained warm and sunny throughout the day, and there was no repeat of the windy conditions that swept across the circuit yesterday, allowing the team to continue with its programme as planned. The team also took the opportunity to carry out some further pit stop practice.

Both drivers worked on improving the balance of the car and Nelson concentrated on long runs in the afternoon, covering a total 134 laps, adding to the two race distances he completed earlier in the week. Lucas had some minor problems in the morning but enjoyed a positive afternoon when he carried out some brake testing.

The team head to Barcelona next week to continue the intensive development programme.

Nelson Piquet: ”It was another good day and again we covered a lot of miles, which I’m happy about. Obviously we are working hard to improve the car as much as we can and we’re definitely seeing the results of the hard work from everyone back at the factory on the track. We have collected more valuable data today, which the team will be able to analyse before the test next week in Barcelona. So, overall a good three days for me and I definitely feel I am getting more used to the physical demands of F1.“

Lucas Di Grassi: “Today we spent the day testing a lot of different parts, so it was not about ultimate performance but understanding how these parts worked on the car. We found some good things and made some progress, so I’m happy with how the day went. Overall my two days here in Jerez with the team have been a very good experience and I was impressed with the R28. I feel I’m improving each time I drive the car and with the feedback I give the team, and I look forward to the next time I can work with the team.”

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer: “We kept to the programme as planned today with Nelson doing some set-up work in the morning, and then a race distance in the afternoon with no major problems on the car. With Lucas we did set-up work in the morning, but we had a few problems which slowed us down a bit. But the afternoon went well and we did some brake testing and Lucas gave good feedback and we have some valuable data.”

Programme:
Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld continued to work on the general set-up of the BMW Sauber F1.08 following the test schedule as planned. Completing 116 and 109 laps respectively without any major problem both drivers collected valuable data progressing the development of the car. Both drivers did several practice starts and pitstops to check the car’s systems under these special conditions. Today’s test again was hampered by strong winds, which affected the lap times significantly and made aero work difficult. Due to the wind the team even interrupted scheduled long runs during the afternoon.
What comes next:
BMW Sauber F1 Team will conclude the Jerez test tomorrow. The programme includes more development work on the aerodynamical and mechanical set-up.

The ING Renault F1 Team remained in Jerez today to continue its winter testing programme in preparation for the new season. Conditions were warm and sunny, but windy conditions remained throughout the day and the team had to adapt its programme accordingly.

The team continued to operate a two-car programme, with Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet on driving duty. Fernando experienced some minor problems in the morning, but had a trouble-free afternoon and was able to test parts that were not affected by the windy conditions.

Nelson operated a similar programme, with set-up work in the morning, and then completed some longer runs in the afternoon. At the same time he was able to conduct the usual test procedures, including installation laps, starts, and pit-stop practice.

At the end of the day Fernando had covered 104 laps, with a best time of 1’19.710, while Nelson completed 110 laps, with a best lap of 1’20.014.

For the final day of running tomorrow, Nelson remains in the car and will be joined by fellow Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi, who will build on the work he completed with the team yesterday.

Fernando Alonso: ”Like all teams here we struggled with the very windy conditions. But we tried to make the most of the day and tested some important parts of the car that were not affected by the wind. So we did some useful work, but we will have to concentrate on the performance of the car later on in February.”

Nelson Piquet: “We carried out the same programme as yesterday, which went well, although we had to cope with the wind, which was not ideal. Still, we covered lots of laps and I completed a race distance in the afternoon, just as we did yesterday. It has been good to cover so many miles in the last couple of days as it is important for my preparation as a race driver, and hopefully tomorrow we will be able to continue doing that.”

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer: “We had to adapt the programme today because of the weather conditions, which made learning much about the set-up of the car quite difficult, especially in the afternoon. Nelson had a god day and completed his programme of set-up work in the morning and a race distance in the afternoon. With Fernando we had some minor problems which made for a slow morning, but in the afternoon the car ran without any problems. We did not manage to complete the set-up work we wanted but we did some brake testing instead.”

The ING Renault F1 Team resumes its winter testing programme in Jerez

The ING Renault F1 Team returned to action today, completing the first of three days in Jerez. With the opening Grand Prix in Melbourne just over a month away, the team is entering the busiest phase in its winter testing programme with three tests planned for the next three weeks.

Warm and sunny conditions greeted the team this morning and remained throughout the day, allowing the team to complete a full day’s running with few interruptions. The team was again running two R28s with Nelson Piquet joined by fellow Brazilian, Lucas Di Grassi, who was enjoying his first test with the new car.

The programme for Nelson involved basic set-up work this morning as the team continues to improve the car’s balance. He then carried out some long runs later in the day and showed good consistency. Lucas spent the morning carrying out some performance tests as he familiarised himself with the new car before he too completed some longer runs. It was the chance to add further miles to the car, which again showed good reliability.

By the end of the day, Nelson had covered 120 laps, clocking a best lap of 1’19.660. Lucas completed 92 laps with a best lap of 1’21.200.

Nelson Piquet: ”Another good day and lots of mileage for the car and myself. The more I drive the car, the happier I feel and it’s all good preparation for the first race. The car ran well today and we did not have any problems, which meant we could do a race distance in the afternoon.”

Lucas Di Grassi: “ It’s my first time driving a Formula 1 car on a proper track, and for sure the car feels really good and it was a really impressive experience. I’m really happy with my day, we did a lot of laps, the pace was consistent, and I felt comfortable with the team and the car. We did one long run in the afternoon which went well, and I’m looking forward to working with the team later this week. “

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer: “The two main objectives of the programme were to complete a race distance with Nelson and to get Lucas comfortable in the car as he had not run an R28 on a full circuit test before. Both these were completed without any problems and both cars enjoyed a trouble-free day. Nelson did a bit of performance work in the morning, improving the set-up of the car, and completed a race distance in the afternoon without any major issue, so that was a good day for us.”

YA TENEMOS CAMPEONATO F.B.E.A DE CIRCUITO
La semana pasada finalizaron las negociaciones para la realización del Campeonato F.B.E.A en la pista RennArena del Arenal. Ya tenemos fechas. No ha sido fácil colocar las 6 carreras del campeonato, teniendo en cuenta los propios eventos de la propiedad, las carreras de la federación de motociclismo, que tampoco coincidiera con alguna prueba de la FBA, y además que sean en Domingo.
El día de carrera se iniciará para los pilotos a las 8 de la mañana, con revisiones, cronos, y entrenos, a las 10h se iniciarán las distintas carreras y modalidades de velocidad, persecución y habilidad, en las que podrán participar todos los vehículos con una sola inscripción, a las 14h finaliza la 1ª fase y se hará un paro de 1 hora para comer, a las 15h prosigue la competición hasta las 17h en que finaliza el evento.
La junta directiva de la F.B.E.A hace una llamada a todos los pilotos, para que en esta 1ª carrera no se queden a la expectativa de ver que pasa. Es muy importante que participen, después de 5 años en dique seco de las carreras de pista, y con el gran esfuerzo realizado por nuestras Escuderías y por muchas personas anónimas, y el gran coste económico que significa hacer estas carreras, todo para conseguir que podáis correr y disfrutar con seguridad y con un coste razonable, y nosotros conseguir nuestro objetivo que es fomentar el deporte automovilístico.
No tenéis que olvidar que nuestra asociación es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro, y por ello es muy importante que la 1ª carrera no sea un fiasco, y es por ello que vuestra participación es vital, si no conseguimos esto, no sería viable su continuidad.
Es muy importante que acuda el público aficionado a ver estas carreras, ya que será con su contribución económica con la que será posible realizar estas carreras, es por eso que hemos tenido muy en cuenta dar un buen espectáculo, sin tiempos muertos con una buena información al público y modalidades de carrera espectaculares.
El evento se distribuirá en cronos, entrenos, 3 mangas de velocidad, 4 mangas de persecución, y 2 mangas de Habilidad. Los grupos serán: Turismos e Históricos, Kart cross, CM, Barquetas, Formulas, y Prototipos. EL piloto solo paga una inscripción y podrá participar en una, dos o en las tres modalidades a su elección.

Das GU-Racing Team und die Fahrer waren vom 05. Februar 2008 bis zum 06. Februar 2008 mit den neuen Formel Renault in Hockenheim beim Testen. Carlos und Max die beiden Formel Renault Fahrer haben unter feuchten Wetter bedingungen ca. 80 Runden getestet. Alle waren mit den Testergebnissen sehr zu frieden. Das Team und die Fahrer waren von der Power und den Autos begeistert. In Hockenheim zum ersten Mal mit dabei war Eric Neuber der einen Formel BMW testete. Die nächsten Tests folgen in Kürze.

Das Fahrerfeld bei GU-Racing füllt sich allmählich. In der Formel Lista hat das Team 4 Fahrer aus Deutschland, Argentinien und der Schweiz bestätigt. Auch in der Formel ADAC Masters stehen bereits 2 Fahrer fest.

Teamassistentin Alexandra: Wir werden in der nächsten Woche unseren entgültigen Fahrerkader für die Saison 2008 bekannt geben. Das Team wurde komplett aufgestockt. Zusätzliches Personal wurde eingestellt. Wir freunen uns auf die anstehenden Aufgaben und den Saisonstart.

GU-Racing Team International startet 2008 in der Formel Renault NEC.

2008 wird ein anstrengendes Jahr für das GU-Racing Team. Insgesamt wird man an 4 Formelserien teilnehmen. Neben der Formel ADAC Masters, der Formel Lista (wird in 2008 mit dem Formel LO-FB 02 gefahren) und der Superleagueformula wird man sich erstmals auch in der Formel Renault NEC versuchen. Mit 2 neuen Renault 2.0 gehen Maximilian Wissel (D) und Carlos Gaitan (Kolumbien) an den Start. Beide Fahrer fuhren bereits 2007 in der Formel BMW für das GU-Racing Team. Gerade sind die nagelneuen Renaults beim Team eingetroffen. Nach einem ersten Check geht es bereits nächste Woche zum Rollout nach Hockenheim. Team und Fahrer freuen sich das es entlich wieder los geht.

Saisonvorbereitung der besonderen Art.

Keine Zeit zum Durchatmen blieb vier Piloten der BMW Länderteams nach ihren erfolgreich verlaufenen Testfahrten in Spanien. Für Andy Priaulx, Jörg Müller, Augusto Farfus und Félix Porteiro ging es nach ihren Testrunden auf Valencias „Circuit de la Comunitat“ direkt weiter nach Deutschland.

Dort bereiten sie sich mit einem Fitnessprogramm sowie einem Media-Tag auf die kommende Saison der FIA World Touring Car Championship vor.

Zunächst steht für das Fahrer-Quartett vom 7. bis 11. Februar ein ausgedehntes und abwechslungsreiches Fitness-Training im Süden Bayerns auf dem Programm. Nach einem Leistungsfähigkeits- und Gesundheitstest treten die Fahrer der BMW Länderteams zu mehreren sportlichen Aktivitäten an. Neben Skilanglauf und einer Fahrt auf „Skikes“ ist auch ein Ausflug auf eine Alpenhütte in Lenggries geplant, wo die Piloten am Samstag an einer „Zipflbobtour“ teilnehmen. Tags darauf geht es darum, an einer Kletterwand in München Kraft und Geschick zu beweisen. Im Rahmen einer Zen-Meditation trainieren die BMW Fahrer zum Abschluss des Trainings ihre Konzentrationsfähigkeit.
Am 11. Februar erwartet Priaulx, Müller, Farfus und Porteiro in München dann ein Highlight in ihrer Saisonvorbereitung: der Media-Tag. Im Doppelkegel der BMW Welt treffen sich die Piloten der BMW Länderteams mit insgesamt 20 Lesern einer Münchner Tageszeitung und Hörern eines Münchner Radiosenders – und stellen in spannenden Wettkampffahrten auf fünf WTCC-Simulatoren ihre Fahrkünste unter Beweis.

Zunächst zeigen die Tourenwagen-Fahrer im Wettbewerb „Challenge the Champions“ den Lesern und Hörern in Showrunden auf den Simulatoren, wo die Ideallinie liegt. Dann wird es ernst: In der ersten Runde treten die 20 Teilnehmer in vier „Qualifikationsrennen“ an, und ermitteln die Fahrer für das entscheidende Finale. Dabei treten vier Teams, die aus je einem BMW Fahrer, einem „tz“-Leser und einem „Gong-96.3“-Hörer bestehen, in Rennen über sechs Runden gegeneinander an. Auf die beiden Gewinner wartet ein ganz besonderer Preis: Sie werden von BMW zum Europa-Auftakt der Tourenwagen-Weltmeisterschaft nach Valencia eingeladen. Hier erleben sie unter anderem bei der Mitfahrt in einem BMW Renntaxi die Dynamik eines Rennwagens selbst mit.
Für die Fahrer der BMW Länderteams geht der Media-Tag noch weiter. Im Anschluss wartet auf die vier Tourenwagen-Piloten noch eine Führung durch das Münchner BMW Werk mit BMW Motorsport Direktor Mario Theissen. Ihre Saisonvorbereitung der besonderen Art schließen Priaulx, Müller, Farfus und Porteiro dann mit einer ausgedehnten Autogrammstunde im Münchner BMW Werk ab.

Radical NevadaCup 2007/2008 und Nevada Trackdays gehen in die 2. Runde

Auf dem in der Nähe von Malaga gelegenen, wunderschönen und anspruchsvollen Ascari Race Resort fanden die ersten beiden Rennen zum Radical Nevada Cup und die Radical Nevada Trackdays statt. Am Start waren 16 Piloten aus Deutschland, Portugal, England, Spanien und Litauen. Die gesamte Radical Fahrzeugpalette einschliesslich des SR 8 und des neuen SR 5 gingen in das Rennen. Mit Spannung wurde insbesondere das Duell zwischen dem SR3 1500cc und dem SR5 erwartet. Es sollte letztlich unentschieden ausgehen, wobei jedes Modell bei einem Rennen den Gesamtsieg für sich verbuchen konnte. Überragender Fahrer des Wochenendes war der Deutsche Dominik Ruff, der für Radical Motorsport Deutschland an den Start ging. Überlegen gewann er den ersten Lauf und konnte sich selbst nach einem technischen Defekt im 2. Lauf noch auf Platz 3 der Gesamtwertung kämpfen.
Ebenfalls beeindruckend waren die Zeiten von Mindaugas Neliubsys, der zum ersten Mal im neuen Radical SR5 fuhr und im 2. Lauf souverän den Gesamtsieg einfuhr. Spätestens hier muss die Entscheidung für Mindaugas gefallen sein, die kommende Saison 2008 im Radical SR5 zu bestreiten. Teamchef Dalius Steponavicius ist begeistert und prophezeit spannende Renn-Action.
Am 26./27. Januar 2008 wird der Radical Nevada Cup in Guadix bei Granada zum 3. und 4. Lauf antreten. Das Saisonfinale schliesslich wird mit einem erwarteten Rekordteilnehmerfeld auf der neuen Formel 1 -Teststrecke am 23. und 24. Februar 2008 in Monteblanco bei Sevilla ausgetragen. Neben den bisher im Nevada Cup eingeschriebenen Teilnehmern haben sich für Monteblanco bereits drei Radicals aus der Schweiz angerkündigt sowie Teilnehmer aus Portugal und Spanien.
Darüber hinaus werden in Monteblanco bereits die ersten ausgelieferten Neufahrzeuge ihr Roll-Out erleben.
Für Teilnehmer der Radical European Masters 2008 bietet das Wochenende in Monteblanco eine ideale Vorbereitung für die kommende Rennsaison. Mit je 7 Stunden effektiver Fahrtzeit an beiden Tagen werden intensive Trainingseinheiten vollzogen und die Kondition der Fahrer nach der Winterpause wieder auf Renn-Niveau gebracht.

NEU: Winterserie – Radical Nevada Cup 2007/2008

De cada vez son más los pilotos que parecen dispuestos a tomar parte en el campeonato de velocidad en circuito que quiere poner en marcha esta Federación. Entre los pilotos de las escuderías asociadas destacamos a Joan Salamanca y Adriá Ausio que verían con buenos ojos la entrada de una categoría en la que tuvieran cabida los monoplazas de autocross. Del mismo modo Xisco Moreno también se ha mostrado interesado para competir en circuitos a los mandos de un Renault Megane. Junto a ellos también el piloto de la Escudería TR, Toni Dengra encabezaría un grupo de Hyundai Accent.

Eng gewinnt Formel BMW Weltfinale und erhält Chance auf F1-Fahrt. Valencia, 25. November 2006. Philipp Eng (AUT) vom Team Mücke Motorsport hat das dritte Formel BMW Weltfinale gewonnen. Auf dem „Circuit de la Comunitat“ feierte der 17-Jährige einen ungefährdeten Start-Ziel-Sieg. Sein Teamkollege Josef Král (CZE) überquerte als Zweiter die Ziellinie, wurde aber aufgrund eines technischen Regelverstoßes nachträglich aus der Wertung genommen. Der zweite Platz ging damit an Marco Wittmann (Markt Erlbach/Josef Kaufmann Racing). Die Aufholjagd von Jens Klingmann (Leimen/Eifelland Racing) von Startplatz elf wurde mit dem dritten Platz im Gesamtklassement belohnt. Eng, der in der Formel BMW Deutschland in der abgelaufenen Saison Dritter wurde, sicherte sich so die einmalige Chance auf eine Formel-1-Fahrt mit dem BMW Sauber F1 Team. BMW Motorsport Direktor Mario Theissen meinte: „Herzlichen Glückwunsch an Philipp Eng zum Sieg beim Formel BMW Weltfinale. Nach einer langen Saison war dies für alle Teilnehmer noch einmal eine wichtige Veranstaltung. Sich in einem derart starken Feld durchzusetzen, ist eine besondere Leistung.“ „Ich kann nicht glauben, dass ich wirklich gewonnen habe“, sagte Eng im Anschluss an das über 22 Runden ausgetragene Rennen. „Vom ersten Moment habe ich mich hier sehr wohl gefühlt und mit einem Platz auf dem Podest geliebäugelt. Dass es zum Sieg gereicht hat, ist unglaublich. Vielen Dank an mein Team, das großartige Arbeit geleistet hat. Ein Formel-1-Auto fahren zu dürfen, war immer mein großer Traum.“ Eng zeigte von der Poleposition einen guten Start und konnte seine Führung verteidigen. Dahinter hielten zunächst auch Daniel Morad (CAN/Eurointernational) und Král die Positionen zwei und drei. Bereits in der dritten Runde endete jedoch das Rennen für Morad, der zwei der sechs Zwischenläufe für sich entschieden hatte, wegen eines technischen Problems vorzeitig. Král übernahm den zweiten Platz, Jonathan Legris (GBR/Motaworld Racing) rückte auf Rang drei vor. Wie im gesamten 34-köpfigen Feld entwickelten sich auch in der Spitzengruppe rasch packende Positionskämpfe. Wittmann geriet auf dem vierten Platz unter Druck von Formel BMW Deutschland Gesamtsieger Klingmann, der sich binnen weniger Runden vorgearbeitet hatte. Wittmann trat die Flucht nach vorn an und eroberte schließlich in der 13. Runde den dritten Platz von Legris. Auch Klingmann ging einen Umlauf später an Legris vorbei. Eng sah schließlich mit einem Vorsprung von 3,7 Sekunden auf Král die Zielflagge. „Ich bin sehr glücklich über den zweiten Platz“, sagte Wittmann. „Wir mussten vor dem Finale noch den Motor wechseln und wussten nicht, ob alles funktioniert. Es hat aber perfekt gepasst.“ Auch Klingmann zog ein positives Fazit und meinte: „Natürlich ist dieses Ergebnis für mich eine große Überraschung. Ich freue mich sehr darüber, denn wir haben das ganze Wochenende gezeigt, dass wir schnell waren. Ich habe zwei Heats gewonnen. Wäre ich im ersten Heat nicht ausgeschieden, hätte es für mich vielleicht noch weiter nach oben gehen können.“

Eng fiebert schon jetzt seiner Fahrt mit dem BMW Sauber F1 Team entgegen. „Ich werde mich gewissenhaft vorbereiten und versuchen, eine gute Leistung abzuliefern.“ Theissen erklärte noch einmal die Bedeutung des Formel-1-Einsatzes für den Gewinner. „So wie es schon im Fall von Marco Holzer und Christian Vietoris, den Siegern der beiden vergangenen Jahre, der Fall gewesen ist, wird die Fahrt ganz sicher auch Philipp einen genauen Anhaltspunkt geben, wo er steht und wohin sein Weg führen kann.“ Im Rahmen des Formel BMW Weltfinales trafen die Teilnehmer aus 19 Ländern auf viele Piloten, die es bereits in die höchsten Klassen des Motorsports geschafft haben. Neben den Formel-1-Fahrern Nick Heidfeld (Mönchengladbach), Sebastian Vettel (Heppenheim) und Timo Glock (Wersau) waren auch die BMW Fahrer aus der Tourenwagen-WM in Valencia zu Gast. Heidfeld kommentierte: „Ich kann mich gut in Philipp Eng und die anderen Fahrer versetzen. Veranstaltungen wie das Formel BMW Weltfinale strahlen einen ganz eigenen Reiz aus, und auch ich habe solche Events in der Frühphase meiner Karriere sehr genossen. Es gibt nur ein entscheidendes Rennen – entsprechend hoch ist der Druck. Die Gelegenheit für eine Formel-1-Fahrt ist für einen jungen Piloten das Größte.“ Im kommenden Jahr setzt BMW seine Nachwuchsförderung in drei internationalen Formel BMW Serien fort. In der neuen Formula BMW Europe, die bei sieben Veranstaltungen im Formel-1-Rahmen antritt, der Formula BMW Americas und der Formula BMW Asia wird 2008 um Punkte und Siege gekämpft.

Por segundo año consecutivo, el Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo albergará, del 22 al 25 de noviembre, la Formula BMW World Final, una de las competiciones más importantes de iniciación al automovilismo de alto nivel.

En el evento se podrá ver a los mejores pilotos de todo el mundo que participan en las 4 Formula BMW Series compitiendo entre sí por la victoria final y por un premio adicional que es el sueño de todo joven piloto, probar un Fórmula 1 del equipo BMW Sauber F1 Team.

Abwechslungsreiches Programm beim Formel BMW Weltfinale 2007.  Wenn 35 Piloten aus aller Welt im Rahmen des Formel BMW Weltfinales auf dem „Circuit de la Comunitat“ von Valencia (ESP) ihren Meister suchen und um die Chance auf einen Formel-1-Test kämpfen, dann werden sie dabei nicht nur die spanischen Motorsport-Fans an der Strecke begeistern. Für die dritte Auflage des spektakulären Formel BMW Saisonhöhepunkts haben sich neben BMW Motorsport Direktor Mario Theissen auch zahlreiche Stars aus der Königsklasse angekündigt. BMW Sauber F1 Team Pilot Nick Heidfeld (Mönchengladbach) wird ebenso in Valencia vor Ort sein wie der GP2-Meister Timo Glock (Wersau) und Formel-1-Pilot Sebastian Vettel (Heppenheim), beide ehemalige Formel BMW Champions. Bereits am Donnerstag steigt Christian Vietoris (Lissendorf) zumindest für einen Tag in die Riege der F1-Fahrer auf: Nach seinem Sieg beim Formel BMW Weltfinale 2006 an gleicher Stelle erhält der 18-Jährige die Gelegenheit, ein Formel-1-Auto des BMW Sauber F1 Teams zu testen. Ab Freitag stehen dann die Teilnehmer des diesjährigen Weltfinales im Vordergrund, die in die Fußstapfen von Vietoris treten wollen. Fahrten von imposanten BMW Rennwagen aus der erfolgreichen Motorsport-Geschichte von BMW runden das spannende Programm in Valencia ab.
