CHEVROLET CARS 20KG HEAVIER IN GERMANY

There is only one change to the compensation weight list for the next event in Oschersleben: 20 kilos added to the Chevrolet Cruze cars compared to Brands Hatch.
The BMW 320si emerged as the fastest model during the British weekend, only 0.048 seconds faster than the Chevrolet and three tenths faster than the SEAT León TDI.
According to the calculation that took into account the lap times set in the three previous events (Brno, Porto and Brands Hatch) BMW and SEAT remain on the maximum compensation weight (+40kg), while the Chevrolet moves up to +30kg.
Like in Brands Hatch, Alessandro Zanardi’s BMW 320si (equipped with a sequential gearbox) will have no compensation weight on board, while the SEAT León TFSI and the both LADA models (110 and Priora) will have 20kg deducted from the minimum weight.

CLAIRET TO JOIN SUNRED IN OSCHERSLEBEN
Frenchman Jean-Marie Clairet is the SEAT Eurocup driver who won WTCC participation in the next event at Oschersleben.
The 42-year old from Paris emerged as the best scorer in last weekend’s Eurocup round at Brands Hatch, claiming victory in the second race and climbing to fifth in the series’ classification.
"It’s a dream. The WTCC is another planet compared to the championships I have raced so far. My only goal will be to finish the races without damaging the car," said Clairet who has claimed European and national titles in the Citroën and Peugeot trophies during his racing career.
Clairet is the fourth SEAT Eurocup driver to qualify for a WTCC event, following Tim Coronel (Brno), Diego Puyo (Porto) and Norbert Michelisz (Brands Hatch).

Tiago Monteiro, Bruno Senna, Miguel Ramos, Francisco Cruz Martins ! Four big names of Portuguese motorsport. Four names which arouses interest. Three Portuguese and one Brazilian - who knows how much Portuguese fans like him - drivers gathered this afternoon for a nice family picture and a very friendly meeting.
They all know how much the fans rely on them to make a Portuguesa fill the air on Saturday night, and they all will do their best in their respective class to make the fans happy.
It is not necessary to introduce Bruno and Tiago, who will co-drive the Oreca 01-AIM Nr.10, which is currently fourth of the teams’ classification in the LMP1 class. The two young stars can therefore be full of hope.

SEVILLA FC RETURNS TO SUPERLEAGUE FORMULA

Sevilla FC will replace the entry previously fielded by Al Ain who, after having participated in the first two races and made one podium in Zolder, won’t be racing for the rest of this season.
Spanish League outfit Sevilla will return to Superleague Formula this season. The team’s colours were not present on the grid during the opening races at Magny Cours (France) and Zolder (Belgium), but will be back for the third round of the championship which takes place this weekend at British circuit, Donington Park. The Andalucian team’s car will be driven by a man who has proved to be a revelation so far this season, the Argentine driver Esteban Guerrieri. The young South American was the find of the weekend at Zolder where he won the second race, his maiden career victory in the category at his first Superleague Formula weekend.
The arrival of Sevilla FC sees the club further boosting the Spanish presence in Superleague Formula, which includes the undisputed leader of the series, the Alicante-born Adrián Vallés, who was the winner of both race weekends, held so far.
For José María del Nido, President of the Sevilla FC, the club’s return to Superleague Formula is one of the biggest events of the summer for both the team and the city.
“To be back in Superleague Formula is as big a message as we can give, not just to the fans of Sevilla but to the entire city of Sevilla. The colours of our club will again project the name and image of the city to an international audience. Sevilla Football Club has successfully showcased the name of the city at the biggest sporting events in the world and now it’s time to promote the city at the best circuits in Europe,” said the Sevilla President.
“The presence of a young Argentine driver at the wheel of our car helps to underline the international impact of our colours and our team, which is greatly admired at a world level by many players who want to wear the shirt of Sevilla FC. The famous Argentine passion coupled with a love of football and motorsport, will make it interesting to follow our car in the coming races. Am kommenden Wochenende fahren die Piloten der Formel 3 Euro Serie zum ersten Mal seit drei Jahren wieder auf der mittlerweile 3,696 Kilometer langen Strecke in der Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Damals feierte Sébastien Buemi seinen ersten Erfolg in der stärksten Nachwuchsserie der Welt. Mittlerweile hat es der Schweizer bereits bis in die Formel 1 geschafft und startet in dieser Saison für das Team Toro Rosso. Nun kommt der Franzose Jules Bianchi als Tabellenführer an die Rennstrecke nahe Magdeburg.
Bianchi reist voller Selbstvertrauen nach Oschersleben, schließlich hat er vor zwei Wochen in Zandvoort gleich beide Rennen für sich entscheiden können. In der Ära der Reversed-Grid-Regelung beim Sonntagsrennen ist das vor Bianchi nur Sebastian Vettel gelungen. Zwei Piloten feiern am kommenden Wochenende ihr Comeback in der Formel 3 Euro Serie: Tom Dillmann (HBR Motorsport) ersetzt Kevin Mirocha und Renger van der Zande (Motopark Academy) übernimmt beim Heimspiel seines neuen Teams einmalig den Platz des gesundheitlich angeschlagenen Finnen Atte Mustonen. Adrien Tambay (ART Grand Prix) muss wegen einer Verletzung, die er sich beim Fußballspielen zugezogen hat, auf seinen Start verzichten.
Renger van der Zande (Motopark Academy): „Ich freue mich, wieder in der Formel 3 Euro Serie zu fahren. Ich hoffe, meinem Team Motopark Academy, das ja in diesem Jahr erst in die Formel 3 eingestiegen ist, mit meiner Erfahrung etwas helfen zu können. Man braucht in Oschersleben ein gutes Auto und einen guten Fahrer, um schnell zu sein. Die Schlüsselstelle ist meiner Meinung nach die Schikane, dort kann man viel Zeit gewinnen oder verlieren. Ich glaube nicht, dass ich einen Vorteil habe, weil ich schon Rennen in Oschersleben gefahren bin, denn Rennfahrer lernen neue Strecken normalerweise sehr schnell.“

VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE FOR SUPERLEAGUE FORMULA

This year’s thrilling Superleague Formula by Sonangol is living up to all expectations according to Competitions Director, Robin Webb. As the six-round football-themed race series reaches its halfway point at Donington Park in the UK on 1/2 August, four different clubs – Liverpool, AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Al-Ain – have scored victories in the opening four races of the season.
The unpredictability of the racing is just one of the championship’s many attractions according to Webb. “Last year no fewer than eight clubs won races and, if anything, it’s looking even more competitive in 2009,” reports a delighted Webb. “The variety of winners is very appealing to all involved but that’s what we set out to create. The cars are technically identical and therefore very closely matched and the reverse grid that we use for the second race tends to mix things up giving others a chance of victory. The best drivers, though, still come out on top as they have to score as many points as they can often in two very different races: one which they start from the front, the other from the back.”
The reverse grid format is another of Superleague Formula’s great successes providing fans with plenty of excitement as the faster cars from race one attempt to battle their way back to the front.
“We purposely designed the aerodynamics to allow the cars to run close together and thus allow for plenty of overtaking. What’s more each driver has a special ‘push-to-pass’ button giving him an additional 50bhp for 15 seconds. This can be employed up to eight times during each race.”
With the glorious sounding Superleague V12 engines already producing more than 750bhp, the ‘push-to-pass’ mode gives drivers in excess of 800bhp. “Fans at Donington are certainly in for some fast furious action – more so as local favourites Liverpool and Spurs are among this year’s front-runners and Rangers has also looked capable of winning. It’s going to be another great weekend,” concludes Webb.
Sunday’s non-stop on-track entertainment includes two Superleague Formula highlights plus a five lap Super Final which sees the top three finishers from both races shoot it out to decide the overall ‘Weekend Winner’ plus the destination of the €100,000 top prize. There’s a full support race programme, too, including the FIA Historic Formula One Championship, MSA British Super Kart Championship as well as the very best of sportscar and saloon car contests – a high-octane feast of entertainment is guaranteed.
Adding to local interest, Birmingham’s Scott Mansell replaces Duncan Tappy in the Galatasaray entry while Zolder winner Esteban Guerrieri moves from Al-Ain to Sevilla who returns to the series as from this fourth round.

El Equipo Mallorca New Limit en las 12 Horas de Osona

El Mallorca New Limit se desplazaba este pasado 26 de julio hasta el Karting de Osona, en la localidad
de Vic, a 60 Kms de Barcelona, para participar en las “12 Horas de Osona”, una célebre competición
reservada para motos de hasta 85 cc.
El equipo participaba a los mandos de una KTM de cross de 65cc, debidamente modificada, que
resultó ser muy competitiva por su gran agilidad. Componían el equipo de pilotos Angel Poyatos,
Alfonso Ho y Lluís Llinás. Tras las tandas clasificatorias nuestros pilotos ocuparon la pole position,
demostrando ser el equipo más rápido de los 17 inscritos. La salida de la carrera se realizó a las
12 del mediodía del sábado, para acabar a las 12 de la noche.
La salida fue del tipo “Le Mans” y el MNL se colocó desde el principio entre los cuatro primeros,
ocupando la tercera posición en la vuelta 4, hasta que en la vuelta 74 se colocaron segundos y ya
en la vuelta 104 se pusieron en primera posición. Pero apenas 12 vueltas después uno de los
rodamientos del cigüeñal dijo basta, y la KTM tuvo que pasar por boxes para su reparación. Durante
dos horas el equipo técnico estuvo trabajando a toda prisa para cambiar dicho rodamiento y así, dos
horas después, el Mallorca New Limit volvía a la carrera, a 116 vueltas del lider, sin ninguna posibilidad
de alcanzar siquiera el podio, pero con la convicción que lo importante es participar. Al finalizar las
12 horas de carrera, el MNL obtuvo la 10ª posición, con 626 vueltas, a 102 del ganador, rodando a
un ritmo rapidísimo y recuperándole a los ganadores nada menos que 14 vueltas, “firmando” además,
la segunda vuelta más rápida de toda la competición.
Este mes de agosto la competición se toma un pequeño respiro, pero vuelve con mucha fuerza en
el mes de septiembre, con tres citas muy importantes. El 13 de septiembre el MNL participará en
la sexta prueba del Campeonato de Baleares, en el Circuito Renn Arena con Alfonso Ho en Open Élite,
Angel Poyatos en 125GP y Miquel Pons en Promo Base. El 20 de septiembre estaremos presentes
en la penúltima prueba del Campeonato Mediterráneo de Velocidad en Albacete, con Alfonso Ho en
Series 600 y Angel Poyatos en la Kawasaki Junior Cup, y cerraremos septiembre con la posible
participación de Alfonso Ho en la cuarta prueba del CEV, en la categoría de Supersport, que se
celebrará el 27 de septiembre también en Albacete.

Donington Park to host F2’s final UK round of the season

Two tickets for the price of one as championship race hots up!
The FIA Formula Two Championship heads to Donington Park on 15/16 August – and fans are set for a feast of F2 racing in the final UK round of the 2009 season.
As it is spectators’ last opportunity to see F2 compete on British soil this year, Donington Park and MotorSport Vision have teamed up to offer fans an exclusive 2 for 1 deal on tickets for the event. At the midway point of the season, Andy Soucek leads the championship after taking his second win of the season last time out at Brands Hatch. The overall standings are taking shape and it is the Red Bull-backed Canadian driver Robert Wickens and Austrian Philipp Eng who are chasing down Soucek’s lead. Wickens has returned to form in recent rounds but he has not stood on the top step of the podium since the inaugural event in Valencia, whilst Eng took his maiden victory at Brands Hatch.
A trio of drivers are joint fourth in the standings – Julien Jousse, Tobias Hegewald and Mirko Bortolotti will be hoping to relaunch their championship challenge with good results at Donington, whilst Mikhail Aleshin and Miloš Pavlović remain in touching distance of the leading pack.
Donington Park will host two thrilling Formula Two races, plus fans can meet the drivers at a free pit lane walkabout and autograph session on the Sunday (16 August). The FIA Formula Two Championship will be joined by a superb line-up of support races including the Historic Formula 2 Championship for cars from the 1967-78 era and a full grid of supercars in the GT Cup.
The main raceday will also include a special tribute to Henry Surtees, who tragically died after an accident during the second F2 race at Brands Hatch. Further details will be available shortly via the official Formula Two website.

Buenas sensaciones para Rodríguez en la Baja España Aragón

El equipo Salgar NavarraDakar formado por Pablo Rodríguez y Diego
Vela ha finalizado la Baja España Aragón en la vigésimo octava posición.
Un resultado que a tenor de las previsiones y objetivos iniciales es un
gran logro dadas las duras condiciones de carrera y el objetivo principal
que no era otro que rodar el Proto Salgar, continuando en su evolución
y conseguir acabar la carrera.
Esta ha transcurrido sin mayores inconvenientes que el intenso calor
reinante en Aragón que se multiplicaba dentro del habitáculo del Proto
Salgar pick-up. Aunque no era esa la temperatura que más preocupaba
a Pablo y Diego sino la del motor. Uno de los principales inconvenientes
de la primera versión del coche era la de encontrar un equilibrio entre
potencia y temperatura. Ahora con las nuevas soluciones adoptadas se ha
podido rodar sin que el sistema de refrigeración mostrara ningún signo
de fatiga ni sobrecalentamiento. El trabajo llevado a cabo por Jesús Aguirre
y el mecánico Silvestre Bernardo en la nueva evolución ha dado sus
frutos en esta Baja y ahora se continuará con la programación prevista
modificando el mapa de inyección y gestión electrónica del motor en las
instalaciones de NTTD
Los neumáticos Fedima F-Guide punto azul también han respondido a
las expectativas depositadas en ellos, no han dado ningún tipo de problema
y se muestran como una buena y económica opción en carreras de
aproximadamente quinientos kilómetros de recorrido.
Ya nos merecíamos terminar una carrera, comentaba Pablo Rodríguez,
hemos rodado a un ritmo suave sin forzar en exceso y hemos conseguido
nuestro objetivo. Ha sido una Baja bastante dura y de las siete que llevo
disputadas, es sin ninguna duda, la más calurosa. Finalmente podemos
dar una alegría a nuestros patrocinadores Salgar, Magna y Reyno de
Navarra, que pese a los duros comienzos de temporada han seguido
apoyándonos.

I RALLYESPRINT D’ESTIU.

El I Rallyesprint d’Estiu, organizado por la Peña Slick Quemado, fue más duro de lo previsto y mantuvo en vilo a pilotos y aficionados hasta el último tramo con una lucha por la victoria como pocas veces habíamos visto.
De los inscritos, causaban baja a última hora Blai Pons (Escort RS), Raúl Moreno (Clio Williams) y Julià Munar (Clio Sport), mientras que eran muchos los debutantes como Francisco Rodríguez, Pedro Pou, Pedro Vidal, Bartolomé Pons o Fernando Tortonda.
La primera sección, con tres pasadas por el Coll des Tords-Calviá comenzaba con el scratch de Sebastià Galmés, el favorito a la victoria, que endosaba cuatro segundos a José Martorell y siete a José Luís Nigorra. El tramo debía ser neutralizado a partir del dorsal 27 debido al accidente de Pedro Pou en las rápidas enlazadas del principio. En la segunda pasada, Galmés podía mantener el tipo a duras penas al tener problemas de cambios junto a una alternadora que no cargaba. Aquí acababa tercero a cuatro segundos de José Martorell, mientras que entre ambos destacaba Dani Lozano con el Ibiza Kit Car. Junto a ellos también pugnaban por un puesto de cabeza un nutrido grupo encabezado por San José, Cuart, Verger, Roig o Riera, que dominaba el grupo N con su Clio Williams. En la última pasada por es Tords se repetían las posiciones de podium y José Martorell pasaba a liderar el rallye. Dani Lozano era de nuevo segundo y Sebastiá Galmés tercero. San José, Verger, Nigorra y Cuart acababan en un pañuelo en las siguientes posiciones. El calor y los toques causaban estragos y entre los abandonos debemos dar cuenta de Escandell, que se desplazó desde Eivissa, Pedro Vidal y Patricio Rábic.
La segunda sección comenzaba con dos bajas importantes por avería mecánica: Sebastià Galmés (Clio Williams) y José Luís Nigorra (Mitsubishi Evo V). En la primera pasada por Sa Creu, San José sorprendía con un excelente crono y marcaba el scratch al ser tres segundos mejor que Martorell y Lozano que marcaban el mismo registro. Sión Verger era ahora cuarto, a diez segundos, al superar a Guillem Cuart, Pedro Roig y Jaime Riera que se clasificaban a continuación. La segunda pasada daba mayor emoción a la carrera y era Lozano quien marcaba el scratch reduciendo en nueve segundos la diferencia con Martorell que solo podía ser cuarto al tener problemas con una transmisión. De esta manera la victoria se decidiría en el último tramo entre Lozano y Martorell. Finalmente la victoria sería para el piloto de AM que se imponía en la última pasada. Guillem Cuart era ahora segundo, al superar por un solo segundo a Dani Lozano que solo podía ser tercero.
En la clasificación final los hermanos Martorell se anotaban la victoria con siete segundos de ventaja sobre Lozano-Pats, mientras que el tercer escalón del podium era para San José-Hensen gracias a una excelente segunda sección. El duelo entre Cuart y Verger se saldaba a favor del Peugeot después de acabar empatados. A medio minuto Pedro Roig era sexto por delante de Jaime Riera, que no tuvo problemas para imponerse en el grupo N ante Pérez y Bisquerra. Jaime Martorell era octavo por delante de los grupo I de Dani Lozano (R-11 Turbo) y Jordi Santandreu (R-5 Copa Turbo). Fernando Dameto no tuvo problemas para imponerse en el H, siendo además onceavo de la general. Tan solo 23 pilotos consiguieron completar la prueba.
En cuanto a la regularidad, la victoria iba a manos de Castañer-Castañer con un Alfa Romeo, mientras que la lucha por la segunda posición fue muy cerrada entre los Porsche de Garau-Caballero y Fullana-Hernández que quedaron separados por tan solo tres puntos. Mucho más atrás, Kellyher-Ashworth eran cuartos con el Triumph.

David Codina y Miguel Ramis logran terminar una dura y polvorienta Baja España

El equipo 4×4 Mallorca competición logra llegar a la meta de Zaragoza en la Baja España Argón 2009, prueba puntuable para la Copa FIA de Bajas y para el Nacional de Todo Terreno.
La última jornada de la Baja España estuvo marcada por el polvo que hacia difícil visibilidad en gran parte del primer sector selectivo entre Belchite y Fuentedetodos de 183 Km. El tramo además del polvo estaba muy roto por el paso de vehículos y camiones en la jornada del Sábado. Codina y Ramis aprovecharon el primer tramo del del día para remontar posiciones en la general, colocándose al final de mismo en la puesto 35.
El ultimo sector selectivo, un bucle de 180 Km en La Muela, fue afrontado por Codina con la intención de conservar el coche al máximo y llegar a la meta de Zaragoza.
El equipo 4×4 Mallorca Competición cumplió con creces su objetivo al cruzar la meta en la posición 34 scratch. Esta posición en la general supone a David Codina puntuar en el Nacional de Todo Terreno al terminar décimo en la categoría T1.2 y octavo entre los vehículo de la copa Mitsubishi Evo.
David Codina: "Nos encontramos en la primera etapa con mucho trafico en la pista y era casi imposible ver la pista, aun así de nuevo mejoremos nueve posiciones. La ultima etapa nos limitamos a vigilar de cerca al equipo francés de Jack Brun y conservar la mecánica hasta la meta de Zaragoza. Viajamos a Zaragoza con la intención de llegar a la meta intentado mejorar el puesto 51 de la pasada edición y al final gracias al esfuerzo de todo nuestro equipo hemos logrado terminar en una posición 34, que lo que hace es animarnos a buscar nuevos patrocinadores con el objetivo de hacer nuestro vehículo mas competitivo y mejorar este resultado en proximas Bajas."
