Una dura prueba del Campeonato del Mundo para el piloto mallorquín que ha tenido que luchar con la puesta a punto de su Triumph durante todo el fin de semana y que pese a los problemas ha conseguido una meritoria séptima posición.
Los entrenamientos en Kyalami (Sudáfrica) no comenzaban bien para David, con algunos problemas de motor en su moto 1, el mallorquín probaba su segunda moto para las tandas cronometradas. Los ajustes de chasis y suspensiones durante los entrenamientos alejaban a Salom de los primeros puestos, clasificándose finalmente en novena posición de salida.
La carrera de hoy domingo ha sido un reflejo de los problemas de todo el fin de semana, aunque Salom ha conseguido ganar posiciones luchando contra el deslizamiento de su rueda trasera durante toda la carrera. Una dura lucha durante las 23 vueltas al trazado sudafricano que ha dado finalmente un fruto nada despreciable, unos puntos que le mantienen en la quinta posición del Campeonato del Mundo.
David Salom: "Hemos mejorado la salida y aunque he tenido problemas con el deslizamiento de la rueda trasera que me impedían ir rápido, he podido escalar algunas posiciones y conseguir unos valiosos puntos para el Campeonato."

Max Wissel wird beim Super Finale der Superleague Formula by Sonangol Fünfter

Wegen der umgekehrten Reihenfolge starteten die Top-3 des ersten Rennens von ganz hinten – darunter auch Max Wissel, der von der 16. Position seine Aufholjagd begann. Schon im ersten Rennen kämpfte sich der 20-Jährige, der für den FC Basel startet, von der neunten auf die dritte Position nach vorne. "Soweit wie im ersten Rennen wird es im zweiten nicht nach vorne gehen. Dennoch will ich genug Punkte sammeln, um mich für das Super Finale zu qualifizieren", sagte Wissel, der im ersten Rennen auf dem Podest stand. Der Rennsieger aus dem ersten Rennen, Davide Rigon, startete von der letzten Position, Franck Perera aus der Vorletzten.

ASSEN-ROUND 2-SUPERLEAGUE FORMULA

In der Startaufstellung zum zweiten Rennen teilten sich ein Spanier und eine Spanierin die erste Reihe. Polesetter war Borja Garcia, da er beim ersten Rennen sein Auto schon in der ersten Runde im Kies abstellte. Die einzige Dame im Feld Maria de Villota hatte schon das ganze Wochenende mit Problemen am Auto zu kämpfen. Ein früher Ausfall in Rennen eins bescherte ihr für das darauffolgende Rennen den zweiten Platz in der Startaufstellung.

Aufgrund einer Berührung mit einem Konkurrenten war das erste Rennen für Sebastien Bourdais schon in der zweiten Runde beendet. Die Beschädigung am Auto war doch größer als angenommen, weshalb er beim zweiten Rennen nicht starten konnte. Chris van der Drift reihte sich, ebenfalls aufgrund eines Ausfalls, auf der dritten Position ein. Franck Montagny ging von der vierten Position aus an den Start

Nachdem die Ampeln auf grün schalteten, konnte Garcia seine Führung erfolgreich verteidigen. Maria de Villota hatte große Probleme die Piloten hinter sich zu halten. Schon in der ersten Runde schoben sich Van der Drift und Montagny an der Dame vorbei. Die Spanierin beendete das Rennen als Letzte. 

Max Wissel kämpfte sich, genau wie im ersten Rennen, wieder durch das Feld und lag auf Platz acht. Es sah alles danach aus, als würde Wissel seinen Erfolg aus dem ersten Rennen wiederholen können. Gegen Ende des Rennens hatte er Probleme und konnte mit den Topzeiten der Spitze nicht mitgehen. Letztendlich fiel er bis auf den 13. Platz zurück.

Vorne drehte Van der Drift seine Runde und kam seinem ersten Sieg in der Superleague Formula immer näher. Obwohl Craig Dolby gegen Ende des Rennens näher an den Neuseeländer heranfahren konnte, ließ sich van der Drift seinen Sieg nicht mehr nehmen.

Das Super Finale

Mit einem dritten Platz im ersten Rennen und einem 13. im zweiten Rennen qualifizierte sich Max Wissel für das Super Finale der Top-6. Mit dem fünften Platz im Super Finale kann der 20-Jährige mit dem FC Basel einen Platz in der Meisterschaft gutmachen. Derzeit ist Max Wissel mit 120 Punkten Zweiter in der Meisterschaft.

Max Wissel zum Wochenende:

"Beim zweiten Rennen sind wir zunächst mit alten Reifen gestartet. Das war nicht optimal. Dennoch konnte ich zwischenzeitlich auf Platz acht vorfahren. Beim Boxenstopp ist uns jedoch ein Fehler unterlaufen. Das Auto ist vom Wagenheber heruntergefallen und wir haben dadurch Zeit verloren. Im Super Finale hatte ich dann bessere Reifen und das Auto ist gut gelegen. Ich war schneller als  James Walker, fand aber keine Chance ihn zu überholen. Mit dem zweiten Platz in der Meisterschaft bin ich sehr glücklich."

MONACO GRAND PRIX F1/2010 - MONACO 16/05/2010

Mark Webber (Red Bull Racing) has proved peerless with a superb performance to win the Monaco Grand Prix with a super soft – medium Bridgestone Potenza tyre strategy on the streets of Monte Carlo.
Webber finished just ahead of team-mate Sebastian Vettel after the end of the fourth safety car period. Renault F1 Team driver Robert Kubica finished in third. The top three drivers were all on the same tyre strategy.

“Today I am proud to say that both compounds of Bridgestone Potenzas performed very well and a variety of strategies were possible. The medium compound was so strong. It provided good lap times right up to the end of the race, even when it had been used for 77 laps as in the case of Fernando Alonso, who achieved a good result after starting from the pit lane. The super soft compound also showed praiseworthy performance, even with the heavy fuel loads at the start of the race. We could see from the pace of Nico Rosberg before his pit stop that this tyre could have been used for longer stints than we generally saw. We always expect transverse graining on the rear tyres here, due to the traction demands of the circuit layout, but we were surprised at how well our tyres resisted this. The drivers should have got good satisfaction from our tyres today, and I am happy with this.”

Pedro Roca mantiene la ventaja pese a una salida de pista

En un escenario idílico como es la Subida al Fito, sin duda la prueba más mítica dentro del panorama nacional, se presentaba Pedro Roca a la tercera prueba puntuable para el campeonato de España de montaña, única cita europea que se disputa en territorio español. Con un ambiente fantástico como ya es de costumbre, Asturias se preparó para recibir a los mejores pilotos nacionales y europeos, con una inscripción de verdadero lujo. Pedro llegaba a esta prueba como líder de la copa CM del nacional, y con el objetivo claro de seguir sumando puntos de cara a revalidar el título frente a Iñigo Martinez y Oscar Palacio, sus máximos rivales en la lucha por el campeonato.
En la jornada del sábado la lluvia hizo acto de prensencia sobre el trazado, dejando el piso muy resbaladizo, lo que dificultaría mucho la conducción. Pedro Roca empezó muy fuerte consiguiendo los mejores tiempos en las mangas de entrenos, por delante de Iñigo Martínez que en esta ocasión pudo con el local Oscar Palacio. Sin embaro en la subida de carrera las cosas se complicaron al sufrir una salida de carretera que le dejaría sin la posibilidad de puntuar, y dejaría el Silver-Car bastante maltrecho. Con todo era un sorprendente Aritz Egozcue quién se llevaría el gato al agua en esta primera fase, quedando por delante de Iñigo Martínez que se está mostrando como el principal rival del mallorquín en la lucha por el campeonato.
El equipo trabajó de los lindo hasta altas horas de la madrugada para arreglar los desperfectos sufridos en el Silver-Car y poder tener el coche listo para la jornada del domingo, y fruto de ese trabajo Pedro pudo participar en la fase B que se diputaría sobre asfalto seco. Pedro empezó de forma cauta la segunda fase de la carrera tras el incidente del día anterior y en la primera de entrenos sólo fue sexto, ya en la segunda de entrenos consiguió marcar el mejor tiempo dentro de los CM. En la manga de carrera de esta segunda jornada Pedro volvió a hacer gala de su conducción obteniendo la victoria dentro de la categoría CM, por delante de Iñigo Martínez que se quedaría a más de un segundo del balear.
De esta forma Pedro sigue como líder de la copa CM dentro del campeonato de España, lo que ha perdido parte de la ventaja conseguida en las carreras anteriores. La próxima prueba del campeonato será la Subida Santo Emiliano que se disputará los próximos 12 y 13 de Junio.

FBM – Velocidad en Menorca

El Karting Rock de Ciutadella (Menorca) ha sido el escenario de la cuarta prueba del Campeonato de Baleares de Velocidad, organizada por el Motoclub S’Olivera, en la que han participado los pilotos de las categorías convocadas, Supermoto, Minimotard Extreme y Minimotos GP.

Supermoto

Joan Pallicer ha sido el ganador de las dos carreras destinadas a las motos más potentes del certamen regional. En la primera manga ha tenido como máximo rival a Miguel Mestre, del que no se ha podido despegar demasiado, quedando a un poco menos de 4 segundos del vencedor. En la segunda manga Fiol no ha podido repetir la fantástica actuación de la primera carrera, quedando en tercer lugar, mientra que Toni Truyols ocupaba la segunda plaza, siempre detrás del gran dominador, Pallicer, que en esta ocasión ha sacado un margen más amplio, más de 15 segundos. En el cómputo de ambas mangas, Pallicer ha sido primero, Truyols segundo y Fiol tercero, completando el podio menorquín. La cuarta plaza ha sido para Bruno Fernández, que precedió a Miguel Angel Daviu, Pere Miquel Monserrat y Tolo Cursach.

Minimotard Extreme

Diego Pérez ha vuelto a conseguir dos nuevas victorias, ambas muy trabajadas, la primera en un duelo con Víctor José Velez, al que le ha sacado casi tres décimas de segundo, y la segunda, un poco más cómoda, con Enrique Arjona, con una diferencia de poco más de ocho décimas. De esta manera, Diego se ha marchado de Menorca con 50 puntos más en su casillero, dejando a sus dos contrincantes empatados a 36 puntos, aunque gracias al mayor valor de la segunda manga ha sido segundo Arjona y Velez tercero. Daniel Vadillo se ha abonado al número cuatro, ocupando esta plaza en las dos carreras y en la final. Marc Buades ha sido quinto, precediendo a un numeroso grupo, con Onofre Quijada, David Villena, Martí Mesquida, Carlos Sierra, Juan Antonio Vidal, Javier Jiménez, Juan Carlos Carbonell, Luis García, Pep Toni Perelló, Juan Manuel Díaz y Sebastián Luxmoore.

Minimotos GP

Rene Grandpierre y Carlos San Juan han empatado a 45 puntos, consiguiendo ambos una victoria y una segunda plaza, pero como el triunfo de la segunda manga ha sido para Rene, ha terminado ganando la prueba, siendo esta su segunda victoria consecutiva. El piloto de Blata parece haber vuelto a recuperar la confianza y será uno de los protagonistas en las próximas pruebas. Pedro Pérez ha sido tercero, con un punto de ventaja sobre Daniel Fernández, que ha sido cuarto, mientras que Javier Medina ha sido quinto, cerrando la lista de clasificados.

La próxima carrera será el 30 de mayo, aunque todavía no esta definido ni el lugar ni el club organizador.

Die Überraschung des heutigen Tages: Der Italiener Davide Rigon startet morgen aus der Pole Position ins Rennen.

Das Qualifying am heutigen Samstag hatten ganz klar die Franzosen in der Hand. Nur einer hatte etwas gegen die französische Dominanz. Der Italiener Davide Rigon sicherte sich in einem packenden Finale gegen Franck Montagny die Pole Position. Die Startplätze drei und vier gehen an Franck Perera und Julien Jousse. Max Wissel schied schon in der ersten Runde aus und startet aus der neunten Startposition. Auch Sebastien Bourdais hatte einen kurzen Arbeitstag und geht von Position 12 ins Rennen. Auch der Meisterschaftsführende Craig Dolby hatte mit Problemen zu kämpfen und startet nur aus der 14. Position.

Am gestrigen Tag heulten nicht nur die Motoren in den Straßen von Monaco auf. Auch im Zentrum von Assen lieferten die Piloten der Superleague Formula 12.000 Zuschauern eine heiße Show ab, um das Rennwochenende gebührend zu eröffnen. Wie bereits in Silverstone fand am Freitag die Verlosung der Gruppe A und B statt.

In Gruppe A setzte sich überraschend der Italiener Davide Rigon durch. Franck Perera, der am Wochenende sein Debüt in der Superleague Formula gibt, reihte sich dahinter ein. Gefolgt von zwei weiteren Franzosen Tristan Gommendy und Franck Perera. Enttäuschend lief es für den Meisterschaftsführenden Craig Dolby, der sich mit der siebtschnellsten Zeit in Gruppe A nicht für das Viertelfinale qualifizieren konnte. Auch Sebastien Bourdais schaffte es nicht in die Top 4 und schied aus.

In Gruppe B fuhr der Franzose Julien Jousse allen davon. Chris van der Drift fuhr die zweitschnellste Zeit. Für seinen Teamkollegen Max Wissel lief es alles andere als rosig. Mit Rang fünf verpasste er knapp den Sprung ins Viertelfinale. Der Holländer Yelmer Buurman, der schon Trainingsschnellster war, bestätigte seine Form mit der drittbesten Zeit und war somit eine Runde weiter. Für Robert Doornbos und Narain Karthikayan war der Arbeitstag nach der ersten Qualiyingsession schon frühzeitig beendet.

In den Viertelfinals ging es danach heiß zur Sache. Julien Jousse hatte mit Tristan Gommendy scheinbar leichtes Spiel, da er knapp eine halbe Sekunde schneller war. Davide Rigon, der schon in der ersten Sitzung Schnellster war, setzte sich gegen Alvaro Parente durch. Die anderen beiden Duelle entschieden die Franzosen Franck Perera und Franck Montagny für sich.

Im ersten der beiden Halbfinals trafen Franck Montagny und Julien Jousse aufeinander. Der Franzose Montagny schlug den Italiener Jousse und hatte mit knapp zwei Zehnteln Vorsprung die Nase vorn. Im zweiten Halbfinale kämpften wieder ein Italiener und Franzose um den Einzug ins Finale. Diesmal setzte sich Rigon durch und verwies den Perera auf die Plätze.

Und auch das Finale hatte Rigon voll im Griff. Mit über einer halben Sekunde Vorsprung ließ er Franck Montagny nicht den Hauch einer Chance und sicherte sich die Pole Position für das erste von drei Rennen am Sonntag.

Davide Rigon:"Es ist sehr schön, ganz vorne zu stehen. In Silverstone musste ich mich weiter hinten einreihen. Gestern waren wir schon schnell. Ich hätte mit Platz fünf oder sechs gerechnet, aber nicht mit der Pole. Mit Franck direkt hinter mir wird es nicht einfach. Das Rennen ist lang und es wird ein harter Kampf."

Franck Montagny:"Unter die ersten Drei zu fahren hätte ich nicht gedacht. Im Halbfinale habe ich einen kleinen Fehler gemacht, der mich den Einzug ins Finale kostete. Über das Ergebnis bin ich dennoch sehr froh."

Franck Perera:"Für mich startet die Meisterschaft hier. Silverstone war sehr schwierig. Wir hatten nur Probleme. Hier haben wir ein gutes Setup gefunden."

Superleague Formula by Sonangol wows the crowds on Assen’s streets

ASSEN-ROUND 2-SUPERLEAGUE FORMULA

Monaco’s aren’t the only streets to reverberate to the sound of single seaters this weekend after Superleague Formula by Sonangol wowed Dutch fans in the town of Assen yesterday evening.

Following two free practice sessions earlier in the day ahead of the championship’s second round this weekend, Superleague Formula decamped to Assen itself for an evening of high octane entertainment. Fans gathered throughout the day, taking advantage of the football-themed attractions on offer, ahead of the main event at 7pm local time when the high-pitched scream of V12 engines were fired up for the first time.

An incredible 12,000 spectators lined the town centre’s canal to catch a glimpse of home favourites Yelmer Buurman and Robert Doornbos power their AC Milan and Corinthians cars up and down the main street, while Narain Karthikayan was also on hand to showcase the potency of his PSV Eindhoven entry, the only Eredivisie club to compete in this season’s championship. Reigning champions Liverpool were also represented thanks to James Walker.

Yelmer Buurman: “I don’t think I’ve ever done anything like that before! I’ve done some demos but not with such a quick car. It was really good but a shame that I had to take care of it because we still have to qualify and finish three races this weekend. I couldn’t do too many burnouts and donuts! Having the water so close was also a new experience. Normally there’s a big wall between you so it was a bit strange, but the divers were there ready to fish someone out! I still got up to about 200kmph which was good.”

With the demonstration runs completed, it was down to the serious business of drawing Saturday’s qualifying groups in front of the assembled crowd. Beijing Guoan’s return to the championship they won in 2008 ensures that the grid returns to 18 cars this weekend, meaning that two groups of nine will fight for eight places in the quarter-final knockout stages.

Championship leaders Tottenham Hotspur find themselves fighting to get out of Group A along with fellow Silverstone race winners Olympique Lyonnais, while the championship’s other Ligue 1 side Bordeaux should also be in contention.

Home fans will be watching Group B with keen interest meanwhile where all three Dutch drivers – Doornbos (Corinthians), Buurman (AC Milan) and Chris van der Drift (Olympiacos) – will go up against PSV Eindhoven.

With light beginning to fade, there was just enough time for an impromptu penalty shootout in the main square where Superleague Formula’s finest driving talent took on former Bayern Munich and Belgian international goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff, before fans were invited on stage where all 18 drivers signed autographs.

MONACO GRAND PRIX F1/2010 - MONACO 15/05/2010

Mark Webber (Red Bull Racing) has used Bridgestone’s super soft compound tyre to blast to his third pole position of 2010 with a new pole position record amidst the glamour of the tight and twisty streets of Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix.
Webber set a time of 1min 13.826secs and will be joined on the front row tomorrow by Renault F1 Team driver Robert Kubica, who was also fastest in the morning practice session, using the super soft compound for a 1min 14.806secs lap.
Q&A with Hirohide Hamashima – Bridgestone Director of Motorsport Tyre Development
What was significant about today’s running?
“Today was all about learning the track condition after a day of no Formula One Bridgestone rubber being laid on the surface yesterday. In the morning, track temperature was quite cool, so it took a little longer for both compounds to warm up to their ideal operating temperature. In qualifying, finding a clear track was very difficult. In practice and qualifying, once drivers got their tyres up to temperature they were rewarded with good performance from both compounds. Mark Webber was very fast, setting a new pole position record. Qualifying was so exciting today, particularly the last two minutes, and we are proud to support this excitement with our Bridgestone Potenza tyres.”

What are the tyre strategy considerations for tomorrow’s race?
“The top ten drivers will all start the race on the super soft Bridgestones, so it will be interesting to see when the first pit stops will be made. Track position before and after the pit stops will be very important as it is so difficult to overtake. The front runners will not want to be held up by their rivals or back markers so could pit to avoid this. They also will want to exit the pits in clear space too. The track temperature will be a strong factor too as it has generally been cooler than expected here. Maintaining the condition of the super soft tyres at the start of the race, as always, will be a crucial point, and the track condition improvement is likely to be very noticeable during the course of the race. It will also be interesting watching the tyre strategy and progress of Fernando Alonso, as he seems to have a fast car, but will not start from where we would usually expect him to do so, due to missing qualifying.”

FIA WTCC NEXT STOP: MONZA, ITALY

After a one-year break, the FIA WTCC returns to Monza for the third meeting of the season. The Autodromo Nazionale, Italy’s temple of speed and one of the best known racetracks in the world, used to be a traditional venue for the World Touring Cars.
It hosted the championship’s inaugural event back in 2005 and then continued to be home to the WTCC Race of Italy until 2008, only being replaced by Imola last year.
Now the 5.8-km circuit is set to open the European season and to once again be filled by a large crowd of enthusiastic Italian fans.
BMW and Alfa Romeo shared victories in 2005 and 2006 but the SEAT León TDI cars made the most out of Monza’s superfast layout and won all the four races held in 2007 and 2008.
On the last WTCC visit, Yvan Muller was the winner of the first race on his way to clinching the World Championship crown, while his SEAT Sport team-mate and reigning world champion Gabriele Tarquini won Race 2.


The FIA WTCC returns to Monza afte a one-year break

ARGENTINE DRIVER JOINS CHEVROLET AT MONZA
Argentine Touring Car star Leonel Pernía will drive a fourth Chevrolet Cruze LT in the WTCC Race of Italy, at Monza on May 23rd. He will be the first Argentine to race in the FIA World Championship.
The 34-year old driver from Tandil (Buenos Aires) has emerged as a top runner in the competitive TC2000 Championship in Argentina since 2006. At the wheel of a Honda Civic car run by Equipo Petrobras he claimed two race victories and in 2009 was vice-champion behind his team-mate José María López.
Chevrolet Motorsport boss Eric Nève explained: "It is a privilege for us to have Pernía at Monza. In our strategy towards conquering the WTCC title this year, it is useful to enter a fourth car in selected events, entrusted to drivers who have proven pedigrees in touring car racing. Moreover, the presence of Leonel can boost the visibility of the WTCC in South America and the image of Chevrolet in a key market like Argentina."
Pernía commented: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to race in the world’s top touring car championship and with a front-running team like Chevrolet. This is an unexpected and wonderful chance for me and I hope to contribute to the team’s success in Monza. I know the level in the WTCC is very high but I am confident that my TC2000 experience will prove useful."

PRIVATE TESTS ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY
Track action at Monza will start earlier than usual. In addition to the 30-minute test session on Friday afternoon that is always authorized by the FIA when a new track is visited by the series (which is the case, as Monza was not part of the 2009 calendar), the championship promoter agreed to the requests coming from private teams to organise further testing on Thursday. However, this will be reserved for the Independent and Rookie drivers only.
Seven 60-minute sessions have been scheduled, from 9:00 to 18:00. Four of them will also be opened to the competitors of the SEAT Eurocup.

COMPENSATION WEIGHT COMES INTO FORCE
The Compensation Weight system will come into force for the first time this season at Monza. The system determines the running weight of the WTCC cars on the basis of lap time calculation.
The best lap times of the two fastest cars of each model in qualifying and the two best lap times of the two fastest cars of each model in both races are averaged. The calculation is based on a three event rolling average, being applied after the first two events.
The compensation weight has been determined by the lap times set in Brazil and Morocco; the circumstances of the second race at Marrakech, with most of the laps completed behind the safety car, advised the Stewards to discard the second lap times set by the drivers in that race. As a consequence, the SEAT León TDI was indentified as the reference model and will receive a compensation weight of 40kg in addition to the minimum weight. The Chevrolet Cruze LT will be on the same weight as the SEAT, while the BMW 320si will be 40kg lighter and won’t have any compensation weight added.
As for the Chevrolet Lacetti it will have 20kg deducted from its minimum weight.

POULSEN AND FABIANI TO RACE AT MONZA
The number of BMW Independent drivers will increase in Monza with two additional competitors, Kristian Poulsen and Fabio Fabiani, joining the field.
The 34-year old Dane will start his WTCC campaign in Italy at the wheel of a BMW 320si car run by his own team Poulsen Motorsport. A former race winner in the Danish Touring Car Championship and a podium finisher in the 2007 and 2010 FIA European Touring Car Cup, Poulsen took part in last year’s WTCC with Liqui Moly Team Engstler, claiming his best result of 10th at Pau.
Fabiani, 35 from Italy, will drive Proteam Motorsport’s third BMW 320si car alongside team regulars Sergio Hernández and Stefano D’Aste. Fabiani, winner of the 2008 FIA Super Production Cup, made his first WTCC appearance in 2009 at Imola, also with Proteam.

El piloto mallorquín Pedro Roca participará este fin de semana en la Subida Internacional al Fito, puntuable para el campeonato de España y Europa de la especialidad. El piloto de Silver-Car llega a esta prueba como líder de la categoría CM dentro del campeonato nacional y tiene como principal objetivo aumentar su ventaja frente a sus rivales en el campeonato.
La prueba, una de las clásicas dentro del panorama nacional, cuenta con un recorrido de 5.300 metros con un trazado técnico y rápido, que congrega cada año a miles de espectadores que acuden en masa.
Los pilotos de Bango Iñigo Martínez y Oscar Palacio serán a priori los principales rivales del balear en la lucha por la categoría CM. Ambos cuentan con opciones para alzarse con el triunfo, sin embargo, Oscar Palacio serán el rival a batir ya que corre en casa y siempre va muy rápido en esta prueba.

La primera cita del Campeonato de España de Karting este Fin de semana en Zuera

Toni Alarcón a por todas en KZ2

Zuera, (Zaragoza) viernes 14 de mayo de 2010.

Este fin de semana se disputará en el Circuito Internacional de Zuera la primera cita de las cinco que consta el Campeonato de España de Karting donde participará el balear Toni Alarcón. El piloto patrocinado por el Banco de Santander participará en la competida categoría KZ2 donde se han presentado un total de veintidós equipos.

El Gran Canaria Karting Club, equipo donde milita el mallorquín presentará a tres pilotos en esta categoría y todos ellos usarán los competitivos chasis de la firma CRG equipados con los motores Maxter. Por otro lado la marca italiana Vega será el suministrador oficial de neumáticos para este certamen.

El jueves Toni Alarcón tuvo su primera toma de contacto con la pista con motivo de los entrenamientos libres, los mecánicos probaron diferentes soluciones tanto de reglajes de chasis como de motores sacando buenas conclusiones de cara a la carrera del domingo.

La joven promesa balear nos comentaba esta misma mañana:

"Tengo buenas sensaciones de cara a esta primera cita ayer a lo largo de la jornada conseguimos buenos parciales, pero hemos de mejorar los tiempos por vuelta si es que queremos estar entre los primeros el domingo. La idea para hoy es la de mejorar el "set up" e intentar arañar algunas décimas al cronómetro, asimismo hay que vigilar a nuestros adversarios e intentar estar en sus tiempos, pero todo se andará, las sensaciones de momento son buenas."

IRC regulars excited by Sardinia TV coverage

Competitors from the Intercontinental Rally Challenge have revealed their delight at the news that Eurosport will show four stages of Rally d’Italia-Sardegna live.
Europe’s largest television sports channel will screen approximately six hours of coverage from the gravel-based event, which runs from 4-6 June, including live footage of the Monte Grighine stages on Saturday and the Coiluna tests on Sunday.
Paul Nagle, who co-drove Kris Meeke to the IRC title in 2009, said: "It’s not only good news for the event but also for the IRC and everyone involved. Eurosport’s onboard camera footage is brilliant for the fans watching at home and gives them a real hands-on experience of what it’s like to take part in an IRC rally."
Franz Wittmann, who drives an Interwetten Racing-run Peugeot 207 in the IRC, said: "The Eurosport coverage is one of the main reasons why my sponsor can justify bringing money into rallying. It’s also the best way to bring the sport to the people."

Andersson to make IRC debut in Sardinia

Former double Junior world champion P-G Andersson will make his Intercontinental Rally Challenge debut on Rally d’Italia-Sardegna next month.
The Swede, 30, will drive a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X for the British JRM operation. It is the same car Gwyndaf Evans used to win the British championship-counting Pirelli Rally in April.
"It will be the first time I’ve driven the Evo X in competition although I will get a short test in Sweden tomorrow [Friday]," said Andersson. "I own an Evo IX, which I’ve driven on a few events at home, so it will be interesting to see the differences between the two cars."
Highly-rated, Andersson was a factory Suzuki driver in the World Rally Championship until the Japanese make quit the sport at the end of 2008. More recently, Andersson has driven a Skoda Fabia S2000 in the Super 2000 World Rally Championship as well as testing a Ford Focus WRC for the factory-blessed M-Sport team.
Andersson is no stranger to Sardinia’s demanding gravel roads, having tackled the Olbia-based rally five times in the past when it counted as a round of the WRC. His best result is ninth overall, which he achieved in a Suzuki Ignis Super 1600 car in 2004 and in a Suzuki SX4 WRC in 2008.

Cave satisfied after Sardinia test run

Tom Cave got his preparations for Rally d’Italia-Sardegna underway with a successful test in Wales recently.
Cave will contest at least six rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in a Proton Satria Neo Super 2000, starting with the island event from 4-6 June.
The 18-year-old British driver covered approximately 80 kilometres during the test, which he described as "constructive".
He added: "The stage we used was a bit rough, dry and dusty so a reasonable start for Sardinia. We started tweaking the settings to work towards a base set-up for the rally and I didn’t feel out of my depth in the car at all. In fact, the harder you work it, the better it is."
Cave, who will be co-driven by fellow Welshman Craig Parry, has already tackled one round of the IRC this season, taking a Ford Fiesta ST to eighth place in the IRC 2WD Cup section of Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo in January.

Format change for Rallye Sanremo

Rallye Sanremo will feature asphalt stages only when it runs as round 10 of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge from 23-25 September.
The organisers, Automobile Club Sanremo (ACS), had planned to run a mixture of asphalt and gravel stages but cost implications have forced them to stick to an all-Tarmac format for the 52nd running of the famous rally.
Sergio Maiga, the ACS president, said: "Maybe we could have carried out the idea to bring Rallye Sanremo back to [the gravel stages of] Siena, but in order to do that we would have been obliged to reduce costs in sectors like safety, where we are not willing to accept any compromise.
"Furthermore we wouldn’t be able to solve any of the economic problems that a race, like the one we had in mind, would have entailed for the teams that will take part in the event and, even more, for the several private drivers that are always showing their affection to our race.
"A leg on gravel and another one on asphalt would have made necessary a change of car set-up during the race and therefore an increase in costs."

Superleague Formula: Ring frei für Runde zwei

Beim zweiten Lauf begibt sich die Superleague Formula by Sonangol auf unbekanntes Terrain. Am 15. und 16. Mai starten die in den Farben von Fußballvereinen lackierten Formelboliden erstmals auf dem TT Circuit in Assen.

Nach der ersten Runde in Silverstone hat der Brite Craig Dolby, gemeinsam mit Tottenham Spur, mit 92 Punkten die Nase vorn. Gefolgt von Alvaro Parente (FC Porto) mit 70 Punkten. Direkt dahinter reiht sich der Deutsche Max Wissel, der für den FC Basel an den Start geht, mit nur vier Punkten Rückstand auf Parente ein.

Die im Nordosten der Niederlande gelegene Rennstrecke ist eher Motorradfreaks bekannt, da die knapp 4,5 Kilometer lange Strecke speziell für Motorradrennen konzipiert wurde. So findet dort jährlich die MotoGP-WM und die Superbike-WM statt. Noch ein Grund mehr, darauf gespannt zu sein, wie sich die V12-Boliden auf dem Kurs schlagen werden.

Nur wenige der Piloten kennen den niederländischen Kurs. Einer, den man im Auge haben sollte, ist Sebastien Bourdais. Im Jahr 2007 war die Champ Car Serie zu Gast in Assen, bei dem der Pilot von Olympique Lyon nicht nur das zweite Rennen gewinnen konnte, sondern nebenbei noch den Rundenrekord aufstellte. Die deutsche Hoffnung Max Wissel wird sicher auch ein Wörtchen mitreden. Schon in Silverstone schlug Wissel den Franzosen und verwies Bourdais beim Qualifying-Duell auf die Plätze.

Auch die heimischen Fans kommen ganz auf ihre Kosten -mit drei holländischen Fahrern und dem PSV Eindhoven. Mit Yelmer Buurman (AC Mailand) und Olympiacos-Pilot Chris van der Drift haben zwei von ihnen schon in Silverstone gezeigt, was in ihnen steckt. Letzterer stand sogar zweimal auf dem Podium und sicherte sich beim Super Finale 50.000 €. "Das erste Rennen in Silverstone war eine Herausforderung für uns. Und wir haben es tatsächlich geschafft, in den anderen beiden Rennen auf dem Podium zu stehen. In Assen sollten die Top 6 drin sein", meint van der Drift, der Teamkollege von Max Wissel.

Der ehemalige Formel-1-Fahrer Robert Doornbos war mit seinem Saisonauftakt nicht wirklich zufrieden und hofft, in Assen mehr Glück zu haben. "Ich mag die Strecke und kenne sie noch aus Champ Car Zeiten. Der Kurs ist sehr schnell und ich freue mich auf die Rennen", so Doornbos.

Die einzige Dame im Feld, Maria de Villota, hat schon im letzten Jahr die letzte Rennhälfte in der Superleague Formula bestritten. Die Spanierin gibt in Assen ihr persönliches Saisondebüt und startet gemeinsam mit Atlético Madrid.

Auch Franck Perera wird in Assen zusammen mit CJ Motorsport neues Mitglied in der Superleague Formula. Schon im Jahr 2008 machte er in Estoril Bekanntschaft mit der schnellsten Champions League Europas. Der Franzose hat in seiner bisherigen Karriere schon einige Erfolge einfahren können. Gemeinsam mit CJ Motorsport gelang ihm 2007 der Vize-Meistertitel in der Champ Car Altlantic Serie. Dieses Jahr fährt er mit dem brasilianischen Fußballverein Flamengo und CJ Motorsport um Pokale, Punkte und Preisgeld. Perera kann es kaum erwarten, in den Boliden zu steigen: "Ich bin sehr froh, in der Superleague Formula zurück zu sein. Ich bin bisher in vielen Rennserien gefahren und muss gestehen, dass diese eine meiner Favoriten ist", so Perera.

CLASIFICACIÓN FINAL CAMPEONATO FBEA 2009

Por tercer año consecutivo, la FBEA coorganiza conjuntamente con Mallorca RennArena el Campeonato COPA RENNARENA MALLORCA de circuito. El campeonato constará de 3 carreras, siendo la primera el próximo día 6 de Junio, y 19 de Septiembre y 21 de Noviembre las restantes.
