Jousse fastest in Silverstone free practice

Superleague Formula by Sonangol 2010 kicked off in anger at Silverstone today as the opening free practice sessions of the new season got underway.

And it was AS Roma’s Julien Jousse who had the honour of drawing the new campaign’s first blood after recording the fastest time during a second session that included the day’s only dry running.

The Frenchman, who marked his Superleague Formula debut with a podium at Monza last season, lapped Silverstone’s Grand Prix Circuit in 1m36.819s to see off Sevilla’s new Spanish signing Marcos Martinez by 0.254sec.

The championship’s newest club Bordeaux celebrated its debut appearance with the third fastest time, although their ex-F1 driver Franck Montagny ended the session nearly two seconds slower than countryman Jousse.

One of last season’s championship challengers Max Wissel was next up for FC Basel, ahead of Olympique Lyonnais’ winter signing Sebastien Bourdais, local favourite Craig Dolby and Tottenham Hotspur, PSV Eindhoven’s Narain Karthikeyan and FC Porto’s Alvaro Parente.

Chris van der Drift (Olympiacos) and Tristan Gommendy (Galatasaray) completed the top ten with reigning champions Liverpool finishing 11th courtesy of their Superleague Formula newcomer James Walker.

The day’s morning session saw Dolby go fastest, although his 1m46.585s effort in damp conditions was nearly ten seconds shy of Jousse’s lunchtime pace.

Afternoon practice meanwhile turned into a total washout after a heavy downpour throughout the 35 minutes of scheduled running put paid to any meaningful track time. Two drivers confident enough to try their luck however were Jousse and Corinthians’ Robert Doornbos, although both ended up undamaged in the gravel trap.

The draw for tomorrow’s qualifying session threw up a number of tasty ties with last season’s championship top two and domestic rivals Liverpool and Spurs drawn together in Group A, while both French clubs – Lyon and Bordeaux – will also face each other in Group B.

Test’s MNL – Montmeló y Albacete

En unas semanas dará comienzo la temporada más ambiciosa de la Escudería Mallorca New Limit, en la que participará con dos de sus pilotos, Angel Poyatos y Alfonso Ho, en el Campeonato de España de Velocidad (CEV), en las categorías de 125GP y Stock Extreme, mientras que Miquel Pons lo hará con la MIR PreGP125 en el MotoDes.

Y para que llegar de la mejor manera posible, además de los entrenamientos rutinarios que realizan en el RennArena (Llucmajor), toda la estructura del MNL se trasladará durante este próximo fin de semana (Semana Santa) del 2 al 5 de abril, a dos de los circuitos que serán escenario de alguna de las carreras del 2010.

El viernes y el sábado, en el Circuito de Catalunya (Montmeló) será el turno de Angel Poyatos y su nueva moto, una Aprilia RSW 125 GP 2006′, con la que espera clasificarse y optar a entrar entre las diez primeras posiciones en cada carrera. Se trara de un ambicioso objetivo, pero al alcance de este joven piloto, por pilotaje y también por moto, ya que esta misma Aprilia fue una de las motos punteras de la temporada 2009, consiguiendo unos extraordinarios resultados.

El domingo y el lunes la Escudería se trasladará a Albacete, incorporándose a los test’s Alfonso Ho y Miquel Pons. Alfonso, que ya está muy recuperado de la lesión del dedo meñique de la mano derecha y de la operación de Síndrome Compartimental en ambos brazos, retomará el contacto con su Yamaha R1, con la que participará en en CEV en Stock Extreme.

Miquel Pons seguirá con su adaptación a la MIR PreGP125, una moto muy competitiva pero que precisa un trabajo de preparación muy riguroso.

Angel completará un fin de semana agotador, con el fin de llegar completamente adaptado a la Aprilia RSW 125GP.

WTCC TO RESUME IN ONE MONTH TIME

Following the cancellation of the season’s second event in Mexico the FIA WTCC is looking forward to resuming in Marrakech on May 2nd.
This will be the second time the championship has visited Morocco with its fast 4.5-km circuit winding along the boulevards of the Agdal hotel district, in the Southern outskirts of Marrakech.
Compared to last year, when it was inaugurated, bringing international auto racing back to Morocco after half-a-century, the racetrack has been slightly modified. The two chicanes on the long Avenue Mohammed VI straight have been redesigned to make them faster and safer.

WTCC CRUZE EXHIBITED IN NEW YORK
The Chevrolet Cruze racing car that takes part in the FIA World Touring Car Championship is currently being exhibited for the first time to the USA public.
The white-and-blue machine is placed in the centre of the stage of the Chevrolet stand at the New York International Autoshow that opened on Thursday, April 2nd at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on the 11th Avenue, Manhattan. The show will go on until Sunday, April 11th.
The exhibition of the WTCC Cruze is part of the promotional actions organised for the launch of the Chevrolet’s saloon to the American market.

Superleague Formula by Sonangol eröffnet Saison in Silverstone

Nach einer langen Winterpause geht es an diesem Wochenende endlich in die langersehnte Saison 2010 der Superleague Formula by Sonangol. Das Erwachen der V12-Motoren in der schnellsten Champions League Europas findet in Silverstone statt.

Die mit der Leidenschaft des Fußballs verbundene Rennserie geht mit vielen Änderungen in die neue Saison. Fünf Millionen Preisgeld, zwölf Rennen und neue Clubs sind einige davon. Was bleibt sind die unerbittlichen Wettkämpfe und heißen Duelle.

Die Strecke in Silverstone hat auch so einiges zu bieten – die Hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecke ermöglicht dem Superleague Formula Boliden, sich von seiner besten Seite zu zeigen. Das Push-to-pass-System und die geringere Anpresskraft erlauben den Piloten enge Fights. Durch das komplett verdrehte Startfeld beim zweiten Lauf, muss sich der schnellste Fahrer im Feld seinen Weg nach vorne bahnen. Spannung garantiert – bis zum Schluss.

Und nicht nur das – auch eine Reihe Weltklassefahrer, wie die ehemaligen Formel-1-Fahrer Sebastien Bourdais, Robert Doornbos und Frank Montagny, nehmen den Kampf um die Meisterschaft in der Superleague Formula in diesem Jahr auf.

Großbritannien hofft an diesem Wochenende, Siege der Heimmannschaften, des FC Liverpool und Tottenham Spur, feiern zu können. Das Cockpit beim Vorjahressieger FC Liverpool sicherte sich der aus New Jersey stammende Brite James Walker. Der Vizemeister der letzten Saison, Craig David, steuert, genau wie im letzten Jahr, den Tottenham Spur-Boliden.

Das englische Duo kann die Saisoneröffnung kaum erwarten.

James Walker, Liverpool FC:"Ich freue mich sehr auf mein Heimrennen in Silverstone. Schon im letzten Jahr wurde ich hier Zweiter in der Renault World Series. Und ich denke, dass der 750 PS-Bolide meinem Fahrstil zugute kommt. Die Unterstützung der Fans ist sicher ein Vorteil. Ich kann es kaum erwarten."

"Der Kampf zwischen mir und Craig wird ein harter. Wir kennen uns abseits der Strecke, allerdings hatten wir bisher noch nicht das Vergnügen, gegeneinander zu fahren. Es wird interessant, da er im letzten Jahr schnell unterwegs war. Allerdings weiß ich nicht wie viel Erfahrung er in Silverstone hat. Ich werde mich bei den Tests gut vorbereiten, so dass wir mit einer guten Basis für das Wochenende gerüstet sind."

Craig Dolby, Tottenham Hotspurs:"Zurück im Auto mit Spurs, und dann noch in Silverstone – das macht es wirklich zu einem sehr speziellen Wochenende für mich. Ich bin die Grand Prix-Strecke zwar noch nicht gefahren, werde aber am Donnerstag genügend Zeit haben, die Strecke zu erkunden. Ich werde alles geben, um mich am Wochenende von der besten Seite zu zeigen."

"Für die Zuschauer wird der Sound der V12-Motoren in Silverstone ein Spektakel, insbesondere auf der Hangar Straight. Aus fahrerischer Sicht ist der schnelle und flüssige Kurs genau das Richtige für mich. Das push-to-pass-System lädt zu vielen Überholmanövern ein. Für das Auftaktrennen erwarte ich mir einen guten Start in die neue Saison."

Die ersten Testfahrten sind für den heutigen Tag angesetzt. Weiter geht es mit dem freien Training am Freitag, gefolgt vom Qualifying am Samstag und den drei Rennen am Sonntag. Im Gegensatz zur letzten Saison werden die ersten beiden Rennen jeweils 45 Minuten dauern. Die Punkte der beiden Rennen werden aufaddiert und entscheiden, welche besten sechs Piloten sich für das Super Final qualifizieren.

Das Rahmenprogramm bietet zudem jede Menge Unterhaltung. Die Dutch Supercar Challenge, SPEED Series, Grand Prix Masters, World Sportscar Masters, Caterham Superlight R300 Championship und CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship werden mit von der Partie sein.

Der Australier John Martin wird am kommenden Wochenende in den Farben von Atletico Madrid starten. Die einzige Dame im Feld, Maria de Villota, gab währenddessen bekannt, zusammen mit den Los Rojiblancos, erst beim nächsten Lauf in Assen dabei zu sein. Demnach gehen in Silverstone 17 Boliden an den Start.

Duncan Tappy wird der dritte Brite, der zusammen mit dem brasilianischen Club Flamengo an diesem Wochenende antritt.

Um vor dem Auftakt in Silverstone die Highlights der Saison 2009 aufzufrischen, überträgt das Fernsehen heute Abend um 22:30 Uhr einen Rückblick auf die Superleague Formula 2009.

Natalia Kowalska confirms place on F2 grid

Female Polish racer is the latest addition to the 2010 line-up

Natalia Kowalska has joined the 2010 FIA Formula Two Championship grid – becoming the 20th confirmed driver for the forthcoming season.

20-year-old Kowalska moves to the F1 feeder series after contesting the F2 winter testing programme in Valencia last December. Her two-day experience of the Williams JPH1 followed a season on the sidelines for the talented Pole, as a lack of budget curtailed her 2009 campaign.

Natalia contested six Star Mazda races in the United States during 2008, which followed a part season in both Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and Formula Renault 2.0 NEC in 2007. Kowalska has also tested both a Formula 3 and International Formula Master car. Prior to her graduation to car racing, the female racer was a multiple karting champion in her native Poland.

Natalia Kowalska said: “Formula Two – just by its name you know that you’re dealing with a big series! F2 was very successful in its first year and everyone I have spoken to has been really positive about it. Of course, it is a very competitive championship and it is a great package all round. I am well aware that there will be some very good drivers but I will just be focussing on my own development and performance. The car is very impressive – that kind of speed and power is something that I had never experienced before. I enjoyed it very much and I think the car suits my style, so I am looking forward to a good season.” 

F2 Series Director Jonathan Palmer said: “I am delighted to welcome a Polish driver to the 2010 driver line-up. F2’s data sharing feature will be of huge importance to Natalia, as she looks to close on the pace of some of the more experienced drivers as soon as possible. Natalia will be up against some tough opposition in Formula Two but she proved during winter testing that she is able to learn and adapt quickly. I am sure Natalia is looking forward to the challenge and will be targeting some points finishes as the season progresses.”

Cetinkaya becomes IRC’s first lady

Burcu Cetinkaya will become the first female driver to contest an expanded programme of Intercontinental Rally Challenge events when she starts her IRC campaign on Rally d’Italia-Sardegna from 4-6 June.
Cetinkaya, from Istanbul, will drive a Peugeot 207 Super 2000 with support from Turkey’s Peugeot importer. She will also contest the asphalt rounds in Ypres, Madeira and Zlin; the gravel events in Azores and Scotland, and the mixed-surface Rallye Sanremo. A decision on whether or not she competes on the Cyprus Rally, the IRC’s other asphalt/gravel event, will be taken in late August. Cicek Guney will continue in her role as Cetinkaya’s navigator.
"To drive a Super 2000 car has been my dream and the Peugeot has been a very successful car in the IRC for the last few seasons so it is a good choice," said Cetinkaya, 29. "Also, the support and coverage Eurosport gives to the IRC is very good and very important for my sponsors. It’s one of the main reasons why I chose the IRC."
Cetinkaya is no stranger to IRC competition having contested the Geko Ypres Rally and Barum Czech Rally Zlin in the past.
She is planning to test on gravel and Tarmac in the coming months in preparation for her IRC bid.

Loix targets wins on IRC return

Freddy Loix will go all out to chase event wins when he returns to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge on the Geko Ypres Rally in Belgium this summer.
The 39-year-old has won the asphalt rally on five previous occasions. Because his IRC campaign will be limited to four events, Loix has ruled out a title bid and will instead chase outright wins in his BFO-Skoda Rally Team Fabia S2000, starting on home soil from 24-26 June.
"Because I’m only doing four IRC rounds I can’t think about the title so my priority will be rally wins," said Loix, who has scored a total of three IRC event wins during his career. "I am very excited about returning to the IRC and I’ve been told the Skoda Fabia is very easy to drive."
In addition to tackling the Ypres Rally, Loix will also compete on the IRC rounds in Zlin and Sanremo. A fourth event will be added to his schedule although a decision on what rally this will be has yet to be taken.

Canarias entry important for IRC title hopes, says Skoda UK

Skoda UK Motorsport team manager Pierfrancesco Zanchi has said entering Rally Islas Canarias later this month is important if Guy Wilks is going to maintain his bid for the Intercontinental Rally Challenge title.
Wilks is second in the IRC drivers‘ standings after scoring a brace of podium finishes on last month’s double-header in South America. Earlier this week, his team confirmed it would be entering a Fabia S2000 for Wilks and regular co-driver Phil Pugh.
Zanchi said: "We have made a good start to the IRC and after three strong points-scoring finishes we are second in the drivers‘ standings. When Rally Islas Canarias was announced as the fourth round of the series, we felt it important for us to contest it as it will enable us to try and maintain our strong championship position and stay in the game."

Circuit of Ireland promises to be spectacular

Organisers of this weekend’s Circuit of Ireland, the first IRC Supporter Event to run in 2010, are promising plenty of spectacular action for drivers and spectators alike.
Based in the town of Newry in Northern Ireland, the all-Tarmac rally will feature stages on both sides of the border with the Republic of Ireland when it runs from 3/4 April.
Bobby Willis, the event director, said: "It’s going to be a great battle throughout the field, we’ve got a great entry and we’re braced for many thousands of spectators. Like all rallies in Ireland, it’s going to be a real challenge because Irish roads aren’t like normal Tarmac stages in that they’re twisty, bumpy and narrow."
Craig Breen, one of the likely frontrunners in his M-Sport Ford Fiesta S2000, said: "Ask anyone to name a rally in Ireland and they’ll say the Circuit of Ireland because there’s so much history and heritage attached to the event. It’s an honour to be taking part."

Jokinen: “Formula Two is the best thing that could have happened for me”

19-year-old Danish driver Johan Jokinen has become the nineteenth racer to join the 2010 FIA Formula Two Championship.

Jokinen graduates to the series after starring on his Formula Two debut at the winter test in Valencia last December, setting the fastest time on the opening day. He continued his good form by topping another session in Portimao, Portugal, and remained a consistent frontrunner during the winter testing programme. 

He raced in the F3 Euro Series with the Kolles and Heinz Union team in 2009, having previously finished fourth in the 2008 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC series, where he scored one victory and four podium finishes. He also contested selected races in the ultra competitive Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. Prior to that, Jokinen enjoyed a superb maiden season in car racing by finishing as the overall runner-up in Formula Ford Denmark, claiming the Formula Ford Junior Cup in the process.

Johan Jokinen said: “Formula Two is the best thing that could have happened for me at this stage of my career. Obviously the value for money is incredible when compared to other series and it gives me the chance to prove myself in equal equipment. I have been really impressed with the organisation of the championship and I would like to thank F2 and the Danish federation for making this opportunity possible. I feel at home with the people and the car in Formula Two – the car feels great and testing went really well. Winning the title is my only goal – of course at the beginning I will be targeting points and podiums, but ultimately I want to win the championship.” 

F2 Series Director Jonathan Palmer said: “I am delighted that Johan has joined the F2 grid and am sure that he will make great use of the opportunity to have a truly competitive car at last.  I was very impressed with Johan’s testing performances and expect him to be a regular visitor to the podium and have a realistic target of winning the championship. Sebastien Bourdais und Laurent Redon Motorsport bestreiten die zweite Saison mit Olympique Lyonnais in der Superleague Formula by Sonangol

Nach dem Lehrjahr 2009 bleibt der französische Fußballverein Olympique Lyonnais, zusammen mit dem ehemaligen Formel-1-Fahrer Sebastien Bourdais und dem neuen Team Laurent Redon Motorsport, der Superleague Formula by Sonangol treu.
Obwohl Laurent Redon Motorsport sein Debüt in der Superleague Formula geben wird, haben sie mit Sebastien Bourdais einen Top-Piloten, der Mitte der letzten Saison einen beeindruckenden Einstand feierte. Der Ex-Toro-Rosso-Pilot und viermalige ChampCar-Meister konnte schon im letzten Jahr einige Erfolge einfahren, beispielsweise sein Sieg für den italienischen Fußballverein Sevilla beim Super Final in Estoril. Weitere Podestplätze ließen nicht lange auf sich warten und folgten in Monza und Jarama.
Zusammen mit Laurent Redon Motorsport möchte Bourdais nun da weitermachen, wo er letztes Jahr aufgehört hat, aber diesmal in den Heimatfarben des Olympique Lyonnais. Der französische Spitzenclub, der insgesamt sieben aufeinanderfolgende Titel in Frankreich gewonnen hat, wird gegen den Newcomer der Superleague Formula und Rivalen der französischen Fußballliga, den FC Girondins de Bordeaux, antreten. Beim heutigen Viertelfinalspiel der Champions League wird es zum ersten Schlagabtausch der beiden Erstligisten kommen. Bourdais und Team Manager Laurent Redon werden vor Ort ihrem Verein die Daumen drücken.

Auf der Strecke wartet auf Olympique Lyonnais die internationale Konkurrenz, wie der FC Liverpool, AC Mailand, AS Rom, PSV Eindhoven, RSC Anderlecht, Sevilla, Corinthians, Flamengo sowie der FC Porto.
Das heißeste Duell liefern sich die beiden französischen Spitzenclubs, Olympique Lyonnais und Bordeaux, am 22. und 23. Mai in Magny-Cours. Eines der Highlights der Saison, bei dem Bourdais gegen seinen ehemaligen Formel-1-Kollegen Franck Montagny antritt.

Joan Perelló se fractura la clavícula

El pasado jueves, 25 de marzo, mientras estaba realizando uno de sus rutinarios entrenamientos en el Circuito RennArena, el piloto mallorquín del SAG-Castrol Joan Perelló, sufrió una caída que le produjo una triple fractura de clavícula, de la que fue operado el mismo día por la noche por el doctor Garcías, en la Policlínica Miramar de Palma.

Tras estar hospitalizado dos días y al encontrarse en buen estado, recibió el alta hospitalaría el sábado siguiente y ya se encuentra en su casa guardando el obligado reposo. Esta lesión llega en un momento poco apropiado, ya que el 18 de abril se celebra la primera prueba del Campeonato de España de Velocidad (CEV), donde participa el la categoría de 125GP con una Honda RS125S del equipo catalán.

El joven y voluntarioso piloto intentará acelerar el proceso de recuperación para intentar llegar a tiempo a la prueba, y aunque 20 días son un espacio de tiempo demasiado corto no dudamos que Joan hará todo lo que esté en su mano para hacerlo.

El objetivo de Joan Perelló, vistos los tiempos que ha marcado en cada uno de los test’s de pre-temporada, era poder luchar por las posiciones de podio en cada carrera, pero ahora, lo más importante será conseguir el mayor número posible de puntos para no quedarse demasiado descolgado con respecto a sus rivales.

Ein Unfall vereitelte den Start von Joe Schmitz

Bereits im Qualifying der Eröffnungsveranstaltung der VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring 2010 war der Aston Martin Vantage (Klasse SP 8) von Joe Schmitz und den beiden Schweizern Fredy Barth und Daniel Hadorn in einen folgenschweren Unfall verwickelt worden. Barth war von „gentle-swiss-racing“ als Erster rausgeschickt worden, allerdings hatte er schon in der ersten Runde, auf der „Quiddelbacher Höhe“ der Nordschleife, Feindberührung. Beim Spurwechsel übersah der Schweizer, dessen rechter Seitenspiegel auf der GP-Strecke umgeklappt worden war, einen neben ihm fahrenden Teilnehmer und auf der noch feuchten Strecke verlor er die Kontrolle über den GT. Er schlug gleich mehrmals in die Leitplanken links und rechts ein, blieb jedoch unverletzt. An eine Reparatur des Autos vor Ort war nicht zu denken. Der Sieg in der 57. ADAC Westfalenfahrt ging an Marcel Tiemann, Marc Lieb und Timo Bernard im Porsche 997 GT3 R von Manthey Racing.

6. RALLY CLASICO ISLA DE MALLORCA 2010

Una vez más pudimos contemplar un bonito elenco de vehículos clásicos que deleitaron a los numerosos aficionados que acompañados por el excelente clima no quisieron perderse una edición más del Rallye Isla de Mallorca.

Nadal Galiana a los mandos del Mitsubshi Lancer Turbo comenzaba fuerte con el objetivo de ser el primer piloto local en anotarse este prestigioso rallye. Así, el mallorquín marcó el mejor crono en los dos tramos del jueves, con una ventaja de casi medio minuto sobre An der Heiden. En la jornada del viernes sin embargo los Porsche 911 de An der Heiden y Tacho atacaban y lograban reducir su ventaja aunque el Lancer lograba marcar tres nuevos scratch. An der Heiden con su Porsche RS le quitaba el Scratch en la primera pasada del tramo de Esporlas Valldemossa y le seguìa de cerca en el Coll d’es Tords. En el tramo de Sa Calobra, el también mallorquín "Tacho" ha conseguido el mejor crono, dejando algo retrasado a Galiana que perdía algunos segundos mientras que An der Heiden recortaba distancias en la general. No debemos olvidar tampoco a anteriores vencedores en este Rally como el alemán Michael Eschmann y el británico John Sheldon, que siguen en plena forma y se colocan muy cerca de los pilotos de cabeza.

Finalmente el equipo alemán formado por An der Heiden y Selhorst a los mandos del potente Porsche 911 RS han logrado, por tan sólo un segundo de diferencia, la victoria en la sexta edición del Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca. En la última jornada, el mallorquín "Tacho" comenzaba anotándose la primera pasada de Caimari-Lluc, seguido muy de cerca por An der Heiden que se anotaba el Scratch en Pollensa-Campanet. Nadal Galiana por su parte perdía la ventaja conseguida en las jornadas anteriores hasta perder el liderato en el espectacular tramo de Formentor, donde el Porsche de "Tacho" se colocaba primero de la general. Nadal hacía un trompo en Caimari y luego se encontraba con el accidente de Eschmann que le obligaba a deternerse. El tramo decisivo era Orient-Bunyola, donde el equipo alemán ha apostado fuerte y aunque no ha conseguido el mejor crono en este tramo, se ha llevado la victoria por tan sólo un segundo de diferencia con el Mitsubishi Lancer de Nadal Galiana. Tacho con un crono más discreto bajaba hasta la tercera posición de la general. Oberdörster y Stoschek se situaban a continuación, mientras que Sheldon se veía más retradado debido a una penalización de dos minutos.

En la categoría de regularidad, el pequeño Lotus Elan de Luis Alberto Izquierdo, que ha contado este año con copiloto local, Tommy Castañer, se ha llevado la victória por delante del equipo Zorrilla-Piñeiro mientras que el Renault Alpine del equipo Repsol Classic conducido por De Miguel y Basagoiti, han terminado en tercera posición.

David Salom: UN DÉCIMO PUESTO QUE SABE A POCO

Este fin de semana se ha disputado la segunda prueba del Campeonato del Mundo de Superbikes en Portimao (portugal), donde participa el piloto mallorquín David Salom en la categoría Supersport.
La jornada de entrenamientos del viernes comenzaba mal para David Salom, con 38 de fiebre y algunos problemas de puesta a punto en la Triumph, el joven piloto no conseguía un buen ritmo.
En los entrenamientos cronometrados un problema electrónico trajo de cabeza al equipo hasta descubrir el problema, fallos constantes en el control de tracción colocaban a Salom en novena posición de salida.
La carrera de hoy ha sido muy dura y emocionante, una complicada salida dejaba a Salom décimo tercero en la primera vuelta, conseguía avanzar posiciones hasta el décimo primer puesto donde se disputaba la octava posición con Di Salvo,Rea y Laverty.
Salom apuraba al máximo la Triumph Daytona pero los problemas con la suspensión delantera le impedían defender bien su posición. Las tres ultimas vueltas han sido de auténtico infarto, rodando en la octava posición en las vueltas 18 y 19, la suspensión delantera le complicaba las frenadas a Salom y le "robaban la cartera" en la última vuelta finalizando en décima posición.
David Salom: "Estoy muy contento con este resultado, aunque parece poco comparado con el cuarto puesto conseguido en Australia, pero hemos trabajado bien y hemos vuelto a puntuar para el Campeonato donde estamos en quinta posición"
