Mikkelsen joins Skoda UK for 2011 IRC campaign

Andreas Mikkelsen will drive for Skoda UK Motorsport in the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
Mikkelsen, from Norway, finished seventh in this season’s IRC drivers‘ rankings at the wheel of an M-Sport Ford Fiesta S2000, six points behind outgoing Skoda UK pilot Guy Wilks, who will switch to the rival Peugeot UK operation for 2011.
Aged 21, Mikkelsen is regarded as one of the rallying’s brightest prospects. He underlined his potential by finishing second on RACMSA Rally of Scotland in mid-October before winning the inaugural Love Cyprus Golden Stage Rally last weekend.
"I am very happy to be asked to join the Skoda family and to be given this opportunity from Skoda UK to do the 2011 IRC," said Mikkelsen, who was unveiled as a Skoda UK driver at the White Dove Motor Group dealership in Cardiff, UK, earlier today (Thursday). "It is a fantastic new step in my rally career and to be in a Skoda seat with all the experience from Skoda Motorsport. My goal will be in to win the championship in 2011 no more, no less."
Ola Floene will continue to co-drive Mikkelsen when the 2011 IRC season gets underway with Rallye Monte-Carlo from 18-22 January.

Golden Stage Rally a hit with inaugural winner

The Love Cyprus Golden Stage Rally has been declared a huge success by the driver who claimed the top prize on the inaugural event last Sunday (7 November).
Andreas Mikkelsen defeated runner-up Nasser Al-Attiyah and third-placed Bryan Bouffier in a tense finish on the mixed-surface event, which featured a single 25-kilometre stage run twice. Both runs were shown live on Eurosport and Cypriot channel LumiereTV.
"It was a great idea and I heard back from my friends and family in Norway just how good the live television was," said the 21-year-old, who bagged 40,000 Euros in prize money of the 150,000 Euros that were available. "To have a rally like this is something new and the idea of going flat-out for two stages on full attack is great. I would love to do this again and I hope it happens again in the future."
The inaugural Golden Stage Rally was a joint initiative between IRC promoter Eurosport Events and the Cyprus Automobile Association.
Other significant award winners on the event were Roman Kresta and Karl Kruuda, who triumphed in Category B and C respectively and both earned 10,000 Euros in prize money for their efforts. They received their prizes at the annual IRC Awards Ceremony in Limassol last Sunday night.

Subaru Individual Award goes to Almari

Misfer Almari has won the final Subaru Individual Award for 2010 following his run to ninth overall on the FxPro Cyprus Rally, which was based in Limassol from 4-6 November.
The Qatari, who was co-driven by Italian Nicola Arena, produced a mature performance to complete the mixed-surface event.
Eurosport’s cameras were rolling when Almari spun into a brick wall on the opening day of the combined Intercontinental Rally Challenge and Middle East Rally Championship qualifier. The impact left his Impreza with rear-end cosmetic damage but didn’t affect the car’s handling.
"It was important for me to get to the finish because I needed points for the Middle East championship and I’m pleased to have achieved that aim," said Almari.
The Subaru Individual Award was presented on rounds of this year’s IRC to the highest-placed Subaru finisher and demonstrated the support that Subaru extended to its customer drivers in the IRC in 2010.
Olivier Burri (Monte Carlo), Juan San Martin (Curitiba), Gabriel Pozzo (Argentina), Jose Barrios (Canary Islands), Teemu Arminen (Sardinia), Florian Gonon (Ypres), Sergio Silva (Azores), Pedro Meireles (Madeira) and Vojtech Stajf (Zlin) were the other Subaru Individual Award winners this season. Pozzo was the highest-placed Impreza driver in the final IRC standings in joint 17th place.

Thomas wants future IRC outings

Cypriot star Nicos Thomas has revealed his desire to contest more rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in 2011.
The 23-year-old finished an impressive fifth overall on last weekend’s FxPro Cyprus Rally in his Munaretto-prepared Peugeot 207 Super 2000. He repeated the feat on the Love Cyprus Golden Stage Rally, which took place the day after the IRC finale.
"I am very satisfied with my performance because I said before the start I wanted to be in the top five and I managed this," said Thomas, whose drive was made possible through the close collaboration between IRC promoter Eurosport Events and Cyprus Rally organiser Cyprus Automobile Association.
"It is all about the budget but next year I would like to do more rallies in the IRC because I have enjoyed the experience and feel I can improve."
Despite limited knowledge of his Peugeot, Thomas drove without error on both mixed-surface events, which were held in baking hot sunshine on shown live on television.

Nagle will miss Monte-Carlo excitement

Paul Nagle, who co-drove Kris Meeke to Intercontinental Rally Challenge title glory in 2009, has revealed his disappointment at not being able to contest the centenary edition of Rallye Monte-Carlo next January.
Meeke and Nagle have completed their two-year stint in the IRC with Peugeot UK and the legendary event is not on their schedule for 2011.
Despite crashing out of the rally in 2009 and again earlier this season, Nagle said he relished taking part on the challenging asphalt event, which was subject to wintry weather conditions.
"It’s a great with so much drama and I’ll really miss not being able to take part," said Irishman Nagle, who partnered Meeke to five victories in the IRC.

Sprint final para el piloto mallorquín en el CEV

El piloto del Honda SAG Castrol Joan Perelló, culminó con una gran actuación su participación en el Mundial de Motociclismo, consiguiendo una meritoria 18ª posición en el Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana, que se celebró este pasado domingo 7 de noviembre en el Circuito Ricardo Tormo.

Esta era la quinta prueba del mundial en la que ha participado el deportista del CTEIB/EBE, tras las de Jerez, Montmeló, San Marino y Aragón. Joan se empleó a fondo durante todo el fin de semana, tanto en los entrenos libres como en los clasificatorios, tratando de superar sus marcas en cada vuelta, por lo que llegó al día de la carrera con los deberes hechos y sabiendo cual era su tarea, cumpliéndola a la perfección, luchando hasta el final.

Tras la prueba mundialista, el equipo dirigido por Eduardo Perales, se enfrentará a las dos últimas citas del Campeonato de España de Velocidad (CEV), en la que Perelló intentará sacar provecho de esta última carrera del mundial, ya que la primera de estas citas se celebra en el circuito valenciano. Tras las primeras cinco carreras está situado en la 8ª plaza en la clasificación provisional, empatado a 31 puntos con el piloto que le precede y a tan sólo dos puntos del quinto clasificado, por lo que las posibilidades de quedar entre los cinco primeros de este certamen es muy alta.

18º JOAN PERELLÓ (SAG CASTROL // HONDA), 4205.004: Este fin de semana lo hemos afrontado paso a paso, hemos querido ser muy analistas con lo que debía hacer en cada momento sobre la moto y nos ha ayudado mucho ya que he podido ir mejorando mi ritmo. El sábado igualé mi mejor tiempo en esta pista por lo que uno de los objetivos que me propuse lo he alcanzado. La carrera ha sido bastante buena, al principio me he querido colocar por dentro de la primera curva y me he puesto con un buen grupo. He preferido mantenerme en medio del grupo para no ser víctima de ningún error de cualquier contrincante en el caso de que fuera liderando, pero tampoco he querido ponerme en la cola ya que corría el riesgo de perderlos de vista. Finalmente he acabado 18º por lo que estoy muy contento y quiero agradecer a todo el mundo que me ha ayudado en este Gran Premio y espero que la siguiente carrera del CEV no pase desapercibida para el SAG Castrol.

La Copa Vallés ponía punto y final en el Karting Finestrat donde se celebraban los dos últimos mítines de la temporada 2010. Como de costumbre la categoría Alevín era la más numerosa con 26 inscritos, entre ellos, el campaneter Miguel Socías que en esta ocasión estaba arropado por varios de sus patrocinadores.

El fin de semana sería bastante frenético para pilotos y mecánicos al estar el campeonato muy abierto y con varios aspirantes al título. El piloto de Pedreres Can Ramis era cuarto en la Copa, y aunque lo tenía difícil no dio su brazo a torcer durante toda la competición.

La penúltima cita se celebró el sábado y empezó de maravilla para el mallorquín que se anotaba la "pole" y posteriormente rubricaba un segundo puesto tras lograr una gran remontada en la primera carrera donde el orden de partida es inverso. La segunda carrera del sábado se anulaba debido a un error del director de carrera y se disputaría a primera hora del domingo donde las condiciones de la pista fueron muy diferentes. Miguel Socías estaba muy crecido ante el resultado del día anterior y demostraba una vez más su valía en la pista conquistando el tercer puesto, que posteriormente sería un segundo, al ser penalizado el segundo clasificado. Así pues, el piloto de PPB se alzaba con el segundo puesto del penúltimo "meeting" y subía varios enteros en el campeonato.

Posteriormente se disputaba la prueba que cerraba el certamen y siguiendo en la línea del fin de semana Socías se hacía con el tercer mejor tiempo en los cronometrados y tanto piloto como patrocinadores esperaban celebrar otro gran resultado. Sin embargo éste no llegaría ya que en los primeros compases de la carrera se veía involucrado en un accidente múltiple doblando la dirección y debiendo de concluir la carrera de cualquier manera. Aún así, el piloto del Grupo Puma acababa en el décimo primer lugar. En la segunda manga Socías hacía una buena salida aunque posteriormente era golpeado por detrás por un rival cuando ambos luchaban por los puestos de cabeza lo que lo retrasaba considerablemente debiendo de emplearse a fondo para lograr remontar hasta la séptima plaza.

Tras la carrera Miguel Socías comentaba:

"Hemos despedido la Copa logrando el mejor resultado de la temporada, a ello han contribuido los patrocinadores y parte de mi familia que han venido a presenciar la carrera y me han dado todo su apoyo. Por otro lado creo que finalmente hemos acabado en el tercer puesto de la Copa y quiero dedicar dicho resultado a mi equipo y especialmente a nuestros patrocinadores."

GRAN ÉXITO DE 100 EMOCIONS EN LA FIRA DEL MOTOR DE INCA

La jornada vivida el pasado domingo con motivo de la Fira del Motor de Inca se cerró con un gran éxito, tanto de participación como de visitantes al gran stand que montó 100 Emocions en colaboración con Eventia, con circuito de trial y enduro incluidos. Una carpa convenientemente decorada y una gran pantalla donde se reprodujeron los mejores momentos tanto del Freestyle Internacional Ciutat de Palma Cocacola 2010 como del Campeonato del Mundo de Trial Indoor, centraban las miradas de las miles y miles de personas que acudieron a la llamada acompañados de un día prácticamente primaveral.

Junto a la carpa, una gran zona de trial indoor, realizada gracias a la colaboración de Potencia, iba a ser el escenario de varias exhibiciones a cargo de los fantásticos pilotos mallorquines Marc Horrach y Josep Seguí, que hicieron las delicias de los espectadores que abarrotaron las instalaciones a lo largo del día. También tuvieron sus momentos de gloria los pequeños pilotos de trial de la Escuela de la Federación Balear de Motociclismo y los pilotos de motocross de base que disputan la Copa Consell de Mallorca, que también recibieron con gran alegría la visita de las máximas autoridades, por parte del Ajuntament d’Inca, El alcalde, Rafael Torres, acompañado del Teniente de Alcalde Felip Jerez, mientras que por parte del Consell de Mallorca, la propia Consellera d’Esports y Joventut, Josefina Ramis, quiso estar presente para dar su apoyo a estos jovencísimos deportistas, así como el Director General de Juventut del Consell, Virgilio Moreno, que se mostraron encantados de ver que la cantera mallorquina está creciendo a marchas forzadas, gracias a iniciativas como las de 100 Emocions y la Federación Balear de Motociclismo, de cuya colaboración salen beneficiados sobre todo los más pequeños del motociclismo mallorquín y balear.

LOVE CYPRUS GOLDEN STAGE TRIUMPH FOR MIKKELSEN

Andreas Mikkelsen has won the inaugural Love Cyprus Golden Stage Rally, which was shown live on Eurosport and Cypriot channel LumiereTV and carried a prize fund of 150,000 Euros.
Co-driven by fellow Norwegian Ola Floene, Mikkelsen set a scorching pace over the opening 25-kilometre mixed-surface run to establish an interim lead of 10.3 seconds. And he maintained his advantage over the second test to eventually beat Nasser Al-Attiyah by 8.2s in a tense finish, despite going slower than the Qatari driver on the final run.
As well as winning 30,000 Euros for his overall victory, the 21-year-old bagged 10,000 Euros for topping Category A for Super 2000 cars. Roman Kresta earned 10,000 Euros for winning Category B in his Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, while Karl Kruuda received a cheque for 10,000 Euros for finishing as the leading Category C contender in his two-wheel drive Suzuki Swift.
Both runs over the stage were held in baking sunshine against the backdrop of the Mediterranean island’s spectacular landscape. Mikkelsen put his victory down to his "full attack" approach on the first run and a slightly more controlled effort on run two when he was able to preserve his lead.
"It was definitely full attack for the first stage but I could drive a little more in the middle of the road on the second run and avoid some of the rocks," said Mikkelsen. "It was quite nerve-wracking because in the middle of the stage I thought we had a problem with the powersteering but in the end it was okay."
Mikkelsen’s victory made up for the disappointment of retiring on the opening day of the FxPro Cyprus Rally, the 12th and final round of the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, which ran from 4-6 November. "I really should have won that too so this does make up for it in some way," he said.
Behind Mikkelsen, Cyprus Rally winner and second-placed Al-Attiyah said he had not been able to live with his rival’s pace: "I am quite happy because it has been a good weekend for us but maybe Andreas had an advantage. He had a new exhaust on his car, which gave him an extra 13bhp."
Frenchman Bryan Bouffier felt that the extensive amount of asphalt on the stage, which covered approximately 15 kilometres of the run, had held him back in his Peugeot 207 S2000: "My tyres were destroyed at the end of the Tarmac. There was nothing more we could have done but I am very happy to have been third behind two very good drivers. My car was also perfect."
Martin Prokop said a lack of traction on the gravel sections prevented a bid for victory in his Fiesta, despite explaining: "I tried as hard as I could but in the gravel the car was always in the air. I made no mistakes but I had no traction. I thought that the set-up would work better."
Nicos Thomas was the leading Cypriot driver in fifth overall on only his second outing in his Peugeot 207, which he was driving thanks to the close collaboration between Golden Stage Rally promoter Eurosport Events and organiser Cyprus Automobile Association. "It has been a good debut for me in a Super 2000 car," he said. "It was a tough stage but I am pleased with my result."
Jaromir Tarabus completed run two with a punctured right-rear tyre but still managed to take sixth overall ahead of Group N winner Kresta and Cypriot Constantinos Tingirides, who said that his Ralliart Lancer lacked power on the first run. Two-wheel drive victor Karl Kruuda and Panikos Polykarpou completed the top 10.
A broken left-rear suspension arm caused multiple Lebanese champion Roger Feghali’s retirement 13 kilometres into the final test, after he had completed the first run in fifth overall. Daniel Oliveira crashed out on the first corner of the second run. Both incidents were shown live on Eurosport and Cypriot channel LumiereTV.
Burcu Cetinkaya’s Golden Stage Rally ended on run two when she rolled her Peugeot Sport Turkey 207, thankfully without injury. Franz Wittmann suffered a front-right puncture on the first run and elected not to take the start of the second stage in his Interwetten Racing 207.
All competitors carried Colin McRae Vision windscreen strips in support of the charity established in memory of the 1995 world rally champion. The charity supports initiatives and good causes aimed at improving health and education for young children around the world. At the IRC Awards Ceremony in Limassol tonight (Sunday), Colin McRae Vision will make a substantial donation to ELPIDA, a charitable foundation for children with leukaemia and other cancers living in Cyprus.

Bridgestones penultimate Formula 1 race saw an epic and exciting Brazilian Grand Prix with Sebastian Vettel taking his fourth win of the season and his Red Bull Racing team winning the constructors championship.
Vettel led team-mate Mark Webber across the line, with Scuderia Ferrari Marlboros Fernando Alonso finishing third. All three drivers used the same super soft medium Bridgestone Potenza tyre strategy. As a complete contrast to yesterdays damp qualifying, the race saw hot and dry weather conditions.

The weather was very different from yesterdays damp conditions and we started the race with a very green track. This meant that the super soft compound was less durable at the start of the race when the track surface was at its worst. As we predicted, at around a third of the race distance the surface had improved significantly. Rubens and Kamui showed the benefits of the super soft compound in the later, better conditions. This meant that when there was a safety car period, many drivers also changed back to the super soft. Aside from the top three, there was a good variety of tyre strategies today. Overall, our tyres performed very well whatever the weather conditions over this weekend so I am very satisfied.

(02.11.2010) Riccardo Brutschin kann mit dem Meistertitel in der ATS Formel 3 Trophy 2010 auf eine erfreuliche und sehr erfolgreiche Saison zurückblicken. Der 18-Jährige wurde hierfür in einer Feierstunde sogar von seiner Heimatstadt Waiblingen ausgezeichnet. Der erste Bürgermeister, Martin Staab, übergab dem Youngster eine besondere Uhr mit dem Wappen der Stadt Waiblingen.
Noch einige Wochen vor der Saison war es nicht sicher, ob Brutschin dieses Jahr überhaupt in der Formel 3 an den Start gehen würde gehen können. Auf Grund der angespannten Wirtschaftslage war es einigen seiner Sponsoren nicht mehr möglich das deutsche Nachwuchstalent zu unterstützen. Mit viel Mühe wurde ein Notbudget für die interne Wertung Trophy-Wertung im ATS Formel-3-Cup zusammengestellt.
Schon länger war man im russisch- finnische Team STROMOS Artline auf den jungen Mann aus Waiblingen aufmerksam geworden, es folgten einige
Verhandlungsgespräche und ein erster Besuch in Finnland um den ARTTECH 24 auf Riccardo abzustimmen. Bereits die ersten Testfahrten bestätigten, dass Riccardo Brutschin die richtige Teamwahl getroffen hatte.
So nahm er dann mit seinem Trophy- Fahrzeug am ATS Formel-3-Cup an 15 Rennen teil, davon beendete er zwölf Rennen als Sieger, konnte mit zwei zweiten Plätzen und einem dritten Platz weitere Podiumsplätze vorweisen und die Meisterschaft für sich entscheiden.
Am letzten Oktober-Wochenende hatte Riccardo Brutschin im Rahmen der Club Night seine Meisterfeier. Dort wurde er vom Waiblinger Motorsport Clubs und von Martin Staab, dem ersten Bürgermeister der Stadt Waiblingen, für seine Erfolge geehrt.
Ich bin nun stolzer Besitzer einer Uhr mit dem Wappen der Stadt Waiblingen, das war schon eine besondere Überraschung für mich. Ich danke Herrn Staab und der ganzen Stadt, freute sich der Trophy-Champion.

Crews to go flat out for the Golden Stage Rally prize

More than 40 drivers from Europe and around the world will do battle over a prize fund of 150,000 Euros when they contest the inaugural Love Cyprus Golden Stage Rally, which takes place on the Mediterranean island on Sunday 7 November.
A joint initiative between Eurosport Events, the promoter of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, and the Cyprus Automobile Association, the innovative event will be contested over one 25-kilometre mixed-surface stage, the Golden Stage, run twice.
Televised live on Eurosport and Cypriot channel LumiereTV, the Golden Stage Rally promises to be a spectacular all-action affair with drivers pushing to the maximum over the largely downhill stage, which features asphalt and gravel sections.
Unlike conventional rallies where drivers have to consider preserving their cars over a longer distance, the Golden Stage Rally will effectively become a highly-charged sprint for glory with crews set to throw caution to the wind in their pursuit of the 30,000 Euros prize handed to the winner.
The format will not only appeal to drivers and co-drivers but to the many thousands of fans lining the route and watching at home live on television, some of whom may have never watched a rally before. While some rallies are known for their test of endurance, the Golden Stage Rally will be more akin to a Formula One qualifying session with every second counting.
The route for the Golden Stage Rally has been carefully selected by a team of rally experts, including Jean-Pierre Nicolas, the winner of the 1978 Rallye Monte-Carlo. The course starts near the village of Kellaki in the hills above the port town of Limassol in the south of Cyprus and works its way down to the finish near the village of Armenochori close to a spectacular dam. Part of the stage runs adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea.
Drivers will run in reverse order based on their allocated numbers and 10 priority drivers, including two from Cyprus, will be selected by the event organisers to run last and ensure the result of the inaugural Golden Stage Rally is not known until the last car completes the final 25-kilometre run.
The event is open to drivers competing with Super 2000, Group N and Group A (up to A7) cars, in both the two-wheel and four-wheel drive categories.
Bryan Bouffier, a multiple championship-winning driver from France, will compete in a Peugeot 207 Super 2000 and is one of the favourites for victory. He said: "On most rallies you have to manage your car over 250 kilometres. On the Golden Stage Rally you just have to push. The strategy will be to push hard on the first run and then push even harder on the second."
Nasser Al-Attiyah, the reigning Middle East rally champion, will drive an M-Sport Ford Fiesta S2000. The Qatari has extensive experience of competing in Cyprus and is relishing the prospect of entering the Golden Stage Rally. "It’s going to be something special," said Al-Attiyah. "It won’t be easy because there is pressure and a lot of risk as you will be on maximum attack but I am very excited by this rally and so should the fans be watching by the stage and on Eurosport."
The Love Cyprus Golden Stage Rally gets underway with the first of two runs at 11:03hrs local time. The second run is scheduled to start at 14:03hrs local time. Stage times will be combined to determine the overall results.

Scheider siegt im „besten Rennen seines Lebens“ in Italien

Adria. Unglaubliche Action beim vorletzten DTM-Rennen der Saison auf dem Adria International Raceway. Die Zuschauer sahen ein turbulentes Rennen mit vielen Überholmanövern, einem packenden Titelkampf und einem Sieger, den vor dem Rennen keiner auf dem Zettel hatte. Der aktuelle DTM-Champion Timo Scheider startete von Platz 15, zeigte ein tolles Rennen und überquerte mit dem Audi A4 DTM als strahlender Gewinner die Ziellinie. Ich hatte einen super Start und war am Ende der ersten Runde, als das Rennen wegen des Unfalls von Alexandre Prémat abgebrochen wurde, schon auf Platz sieben. Vor dem Start sagte ich aus Spaß zu meinem Team, dass es das beste Rennen meines Lebens werden könnte. Und jetzt habe ich gewonnen – Wahnsinn, beschrieb Scheider seinen ersten Saisonsieg.
Die besten Nerven im Titelkampf zeigte am Sonntag der Brite Gary Paffett, der in der AMG Mercedes C-Klasse Zweiter wurde und so seinen Rückstand im Titelkampf von 14 auf neun Punkte zum Führenden verkürzte. Auf Platz eins in der Gesamtwertung liegt nun mit 66 Punkten wieder Bruno Spengler aus Kanada. Der Mercedes-Benz-Pilot verdrängte dank seines dritten Platzes im Rennen Markenkollege Paul Di Resta (63 Zähler) auf Platz zwei. Der Schotte Di Resta verpasste als Neunter knapp die Punkteränge. Paffett sagte nach dem Rennen: Ich wusste, dass es sehr schwer werden würde. Die Strecke ist glatt und rutschig, die Reifen bauten zudem schnell ab. Wichtig ist, dass ich ins Ziel gekommen bin und meinen Rückstand im Titelkampf verkürzen konnte. Zuversichtlich zeigte sich auch Spengler nach dem Rennen und vor dem Finale in Shanghai: Das ist doch ein tolles Finale. Drei Fahrer können noch Champion werden. Ich werde alles geben, um als Sieger die Saison zu beenden.
Das Rennen begann mit einem Paukenschlag. Spengler überholte beim Start Polesetter Paffett. Wenige Kurven später berührte Audi-Pilot Mike Rockenfeller den bis dahin Gesamtführenden Di Resta und beide rutschten von der Strecke. Glück im Unglück für die beiden war ein schlimmer Unfall des Franzosen Alexandre Prémat Ende der ersten Runde. Der Audi-Fahrer touchierte bei hoher Geschwindigkeit Mercedes-Benz-Pilot Maro Engel auf der Start-Ziel-Geraden, rutschte ebenfalls von der Strecke und überschlug sich mehrfach. Glücklicherweise stieg Prémat ohne fremde Hilfe aus dem völlig zerstörten Wrack aus und war sofort ansprechbar. Zur Überwachung wurde der 28-Jährige in ein Krankenhaus in Adria gebracht. Das Rennen wurde unterbrochen und die Fahrzeuge von Rockenfeller und Di Resta konnten bis zum Restart nach gut 20 Minuten repariert werden.
Im Anschluss sorgten die DTM-Piloten auf feuchter Strecke für das wohl beste DTM-Rennen des Jahres. Scheider kämpfte sich nach vorn und machte zwei sehr späte Boxenstopps. Die Taktik ging auf, denn der Lahnsteiner hatte genug Vorsprung herausgefahren, um nach dem Service in Führung zu bleiben. Spengler verlor seine zweite Position ebenfalls nach einem Boxenstopp an Paffett. Seine bisher beste Saisonleistung zeigte der Deutsche Markus Winkelhock als Viertplatzierter, der in einem Audi A4 DTM des Jahrgangs 2008 unterwegs ist. Seine Markenkollegen Oliver Jarvis (GB) und Martin Tomczyk (D) folgten auf Rang fünf und sechs. Mercedes-Benz-Pilot Engel wurde Siebter. Ärgerlich hingegen verlief das Rennen für den Schweden Mattias Ekström (Audi), der lange an Position drei fuhr, aber nach Problemen beim Boxenstopp wertvolle Plätze verlor und am Ende Achter wurde. Di Resta lieferte sich über Runden mit dem spanischen Audi-Piloten Miguel Molina einen Zweikampf. Nach einer Berührung von Di Resta mit Molina, verließ der Spanier kurz die Strecke, konnte aber weiter fahren. Eine Runde später brach bei Molina die Radaufhängung. Er rutschte unkontrolliert über die Strecke und traf dabei Di Resta. Der Schotte schaffte es, das Rennen zu Ende zu fahren, konnte jedoch keine Punkte im Titelkampf sammeln.
Das DTM-Finalwochenende mit der Titelentscheidung 2010 findet vom 26. bis 28. November in der chinesischen Metropole Shanghai statt.
Audi-Motorsportchef Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich: Alexandre Prémat hatte wirklich Glück, es geht ihm gut. Im ersten Moment waren wir alle geschockt. Nach dem Unfall von Tom Kristensen 2007 mussten wir lernen, dass wir aber erst einmal alle Untersuchungen abwarten müssen, um wirklich Entwarnung geben zu können. Letztlich können wir sehr stolz auf unsere Fahrzeuge und das Sicherheitskonzept der DTM sein. Mit dem Sieg ist uns selbstverständlich ein großer Stein vom Herzen gepurzelt. Wir alle wissen, es ist viel schwieriger nach langer Zeit wieder einen Sieg einzufahren, als konsequent Punkte zu sammeln. Heute verdanken wir den Sieg unserer Performance, einer exzellenten Strategie und einer sehr guten Teamleistung. Ich bin wirklich glücklich, dass wir heute so viele Audi-Fahrer in den Top Acht haben.
Mercedes-Benz-Motorsportchef Norbert Haug: Das Wichtigste ist, dass der Unfall von Alexandre Prémat glimpflich ausging. Aber das lässt einen natürlich daran denken, dass die Entwicklung unseres Sicherheitskonzeptes nicht still stehen darf, sondern immer weitergehen sollte. Audi hatte heute eine gute Strategie und den besseren Speed, den wir im Nassen leider nicht hatten. Der Titelkampf ist immer noch offen – drei Fahrer können gewinnen und alle drei sind Mercedes-Benz-Fahrer. Das wird sicher ein spannendes Rennen in Shanghai – wir freuen uns auf das großartige Finale einer großartigen Saison.

Un nuevo paso adelante en la carrera deportiva del piloto mallorquín David Salom. El esfuerzo y trabajo realizado en las temporadas anteriores comienza a ver su fruto.
Tras disputar su primera temporada como piloto oficial, donde ha conseguido el sexto puesto del Campeonato del Mundo Supersport, ahora las marcas más importantes del Campeonato han visto el potencial de este joven piloto, que con sólo 26 años, lleva ya cuatro temporadas compitiendo en el Mundial de Superbikes.
Tras diferentes negociaciones con los equipos más importantes del Campeonato, finalmente Salom ha firmado su contrato con el equipo oficial Kawasaki(PROVEC), para la próxima temporada en el Mundial de Supersport.
El equipo PROVEC dispone de una de las mejores infraestructuras del Mundial y un equipo técnico preparado para conquistar el título de Supersport la próxima temporada.
Este fin de semana, David Salom ha realizado su primer test con la Kawasaki ZX-6 en el circuito Motorland de Aragón, ya que será uno de los escenarios donde se trasladará el Mundial de Superbikes la próxima temporada.

MULLER GETS CLOSER TO THE WORLD TITLE AS HUFF AND FARFUS SHARE VICTORIES

For the third consecutive year Japanese Gods sent the rain to soak the WTCC races at Okayama. In spite of this, local fans did not miss the last appearance of the World Championship before it moves to Suzuka from next year and a crowd of 31,000 attended over the weekend.

Bonk-Motorsport feiert dritten VLN-Titel, Manthey gewinnt das Finale vor Phoenix und Mamerow

Nürburgring. Die Meister der Saison 2010 der VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring heißen Mario Merten (Nürburg) und Wolf Silvester (Nürnberg). Trotz eines Ausfalls beim 35. DMV Münsterlandpokal feierte das Duo von Bonk-Motorsport nach 2006 den zweiten gemeinsamen Titel. Für Lokalmatador Merten war es 2002 mit eingerechnet der dritte Triumph. Unter großem Jubel übergab VLN-Geschäftsführer Robert Rust (Merzenich) den neuen Meistern bei der Siegerehrung symbolisch die Startnummer eins. Den finalen Gesamtsieg machten drei deutsche Premiummarken unter sich aus. Arno Klasen (Karlshausen), Marc Lieb (Ludwigsburg) und Lucas Luhr (Schweiz) feierten nach 4:01:45,709 Stunden im Manthey-Porsche den letzten Sieg 2010. Im Ziel betrug der Vorsprung auf die zweitplatzierten Frank Stippler (Bad Münstereifel) und Marc Basseng (Neusalza-Spremberg) im Audi R8 LMS von Phoenix-Racing 3:35.857 Minuten. Das Podium komplettierten Bernd Schneider (Bottighofen) und Chris Mamerow (Castrop-Rauxel) im SLS AMG GT3 von Mamerow-Racing. Eine 30-minütige Zusammenfassung des Rennens zeigt der Sender Sport 1 am 5. November um 9 Uhr.

Die Meisterschaft werden wir jetzt ordentlich feiern, strahlten Merten und Silvester nach dem Rennen. Unser Titel hing zeitweise im Verlauf der Saison an einem seidenen Faden. Wir haben gekämpft und unsere Mitstreiter haben zum Teil gepatzt. Am Ende hat das beste Paket gewonnen eine volle Klasse und ein sensationelles Team. Wir sind überglücklich.

Nach dem Start übernahmen zunächst Jörg und Tim Bergmeister im Mühlner-Porsche die Führung. Nach elf Runden fiel das Duo auf Platz drei liegend mit einem technischen Defekt vorzeitig aus. Basseng/Stippler lagen zu diesem Zeitpunkt vor dem Manthey-Porsche in Führung. Lieb arbeitete sich sukzessive an Stippler heran. Bei einsetzendem Regen profitiere das Manthey-Trio dann von der perfekten Strategie. Das Team wechselte beim planmäßigen Boxenstopp auf Regenreifen. Phoenix hatte kurz vor dem einsetzenden Regen gestoppt und bei trockener Strecke noch Slicks aufgezogen. Hinzu kam, dass ich dann auch noch eine Runde zu lange draußen geblieben bin, räumte Basseng ein, der mit Platz zwei alles andere als zufrieden war. Wir fahren, um zu gewinnen. Und das ist uns heute erneut nicht gelungen. Freude herrschte unterdes im Manthey-Lager. Es ist immer ein gutes Gefühl, die Saison mit einem Sieg zu beendet, sagte Lieb. Heute hat erneut einfach alles gepasst. Arno ist einen bemerkenswerten Startturn gefahren und Lucas war wie immer astrein so konnte ich den Sieg nach Hause fahren. Dabei haben wir zugegeben bei der Strategie etwas Glück gehabt. Nach dem Sieg des von Black Falcon eingesetzten SLS AMG GT3 beim neunten Lauf, konnte Mamerow-Racing beim Finale mit einem weiteren Podiumsrang nachlegen. Das Rennen ist für uns optimal gelaufen, sagte der fünffache DTM-Champion Schneider. Wir liegen mit der Testarbeit des SLS gut im Plan. Auf die Spitze fehlt uns noch etwas Speed, aber wir haben erneut wichtige Daten gesammelt. Platz drei ist ein perfektes Ergebnis. Mamerow ergänzte: Absolut gigantisch, dass es uns bei dem zweiten Einsatz gelungen ist, auf das Podium zu fahren.

Hinter dem Spitzentrio verpassten Christian Hohenadel (Illingen) und Lance David Arnold (Duisburg) in der GT3-Corvette das Podium um 27,784 Sekunden nur knapp. Seine Nordschleifenpremiere beendete Patrick Long (USA) im Haribo-Porsche an der Seite von Christian Menzel (Kelberg) und Richard Westbrook (Großbritannien) auf dem fünften Gesamtrang.

Die letzte Ausfahrt des betagten Mercedes-Benz 190 E von Andreas und Ralf Schall (beide Dornstadt) endete mit einem versöhnlichen Klassensieg bei den Gruppe-H-Fahrzeugen bis 2.500 ccm Hubraum. Das Fahrzeug war 2003 zuletzt im Einsatz; Schall senior fiel seinerzeit nach einem Unfall vorzeitig aus.

Black Falcon gewinnt VLN-Serienwagen-Cup
Die Meisterschaft war vor dem Saisonfinale praktisch vergeben. Offen war hingegen die Entscheidung im VLN-Serienwagen-Cup. Platz drei reichte dem Black-Falcon-Trio Alexander Böhm (Kelberg), Philipp Leisen (Irrel) und Carsten Knechtges (Mayen) zum Titelgewinn. Den Klassensieg errang Tim Scheerbarth (Dormagen) zusammen mit Matthias Unger (Heusenstamm) und Daniel Zils (Bendorf), die sich mit Platz zwei in der Sonderwertung begnügen mussten.

Die VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring verabschiedet sich nun in die wohl verdiente Winterpause. Am 11. Dezember findet im Dorint-Hotel am Nürburgring die feierliche Jahressiegerehrung statt. Zuvor präsentiert sich die populärste Breitensportserie Europas vom 27. November bis 5. Dezember auf der Essen Motor Show in Halle 6. Neben Neuigkeiten zur Saison 2011 wird Fans und Teilnehmern viel Unterhaltung geboten. Vorbeischauen ist Pflicht!

„Wings for Life” Charity Race – DTM spendet 200.000 Euro

Adria. Bei einem Charity-Rennen für die Stiftung Wings for Life im Rahmen der DTM-Veranstaltung auf dem Adria International Raceway standen die Sieger schon vor dem Start fest. Insgesamt 200.000 Euro wurden von dem DTM-Rechteinhaber und -vermarkter ITR e.V. gespendet. Für uns war es eine Herzensangelegenheit, diesen wohltätigen Zweck gemeinsam mit Volkswagen zu unterstützen und die Arbeit der Stiftung weiter bekannt zu machen, sagte Hans Werner Aufrecht, Vorsitzender des ITR e.V. Gemeinsam mit Kris Nissen, Direktor Volkswagen Motorsport, überreichte Aufrecht einen Scheck an den Stiftungs-Mitbegründer Heinz Kinigadner, dessen Sohn bei einem Sportunfall querschnittsgelähmt wurde. Die gemeinnützige Forschungsstiftung Wings for Life hat das Ziel, den wissenschaftlichen Fortschritt zur Heilung von Querschnittslähmungen als Folge einer Rückenmarksverletzung zu fördern und zu beschleunigen. Botschafter für Wings for Life sind neben anderen Sportlern und Prominenten auch die DTM-Piloten Martin Tomczyk (Audi) und David Coulthard (Mercedes-Benz).
Das sehr unterhaltsame Charity-Rennen gewann Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg (Vorstand Volkswagen) vor Philip Neuffer und Walter Mertes (ITR-Vorstand). Ich war eigentlich auch Zuschauer, da sich vor mir zwei Fahrer intensiv bekämpft haben. Dann machten sie einen Fehler und ich fuhr auf Platz eins, sagte der Sieger. Auch zahlreiche Prominente stiegen in das Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup-Fahrzeug mit 225 PS und gaben für den guten Zweck Gas. Am besten schlug sich Ex-Fußball-Profi Karl-Heinz Riedle, der die Promiwertung nach 19 Runden als Sieger beendete. Das waren harte Duelle und ich hatte viel Spaߓ, freute sich Riedle über seinen Platz vor ARD-Moderator Gerhard Delling und Sänger Nino de Angelo. Besonders Max Mutzke überraschte die Zuschauer. Der Sänger fuhr bis zu seinem Ausscheiden ein tolles Rennen auf Platz zwei. Ich war einfach zu ehrgeizig, analysierte Mutzke nach dem Rennen kurz und knapp. Einzige Dame im Feld war die Schauspielerin Yvonne de Bark. Auch sie schied vorzeitig aus, freute sich aber trotzdem: Egal, das Rennen war für einen guten Zweck und ich habe es tatsächlich geschafft, einmal zu überholen. Jetzt feiern wir die 200.000 Euro, die für Wings for Life zusammen gekommen sind.

Paffett sorgt für Spannung im Titelkampf – Pole an der Adria

Adria. Der DTM-Titelkampf ist in der heißen Phase. Im vorletzten Qualifying der Saison auf dem Adria International Raceway vor den Toren Venedigs hatte Mercedes-Benz-Pilot Gary Paffett aus Großbritannien die besten Nerven. Der 29-Jährige umrundete den 2,702 Kilometer langen Kurs in 1:10,471 Minuten und startet beim letzten europäischen DTM-Auftritt der Saison am Sonntag um 14:00 Uhr von der Pole-Position. Ich hatte während des gesamten Qualifyings ein gutes Gefühl. Im Kampf um den DTM-Titel bin ich dritte Kraft. Natürlich werde ich versuchen, die beiden letzten Rennen zu gewinnen, bin aber von den Ergebnissen von Bruno Spengler und Paul Di Resta abhängig, sagte der DTM-Champion von 2005 über die achte Pole-Position seiner DTM-Karriere.
Ebenfalls aus der ersten Startreihe, von Platz zwei, geht der Kanadier Spengler in den zehnten Saisonlauf über 59 Runden. Der Mercedes-Benz-Pilot verpasste den Sprung nach ganz vorn gerade einmal um eine Hundertstelsekunde. Der Zweite der Gesamtwertung war dennoch sehr zufrieden, zumal der härteste Widersacher im Titelkampf, der Schotte Di Resta (Mercedes-Benz), hinter ihm von Platz sechs startet. Im Gesamtklassement führt Di Resta mit 63 Punkten vor Spengler und Paffett mit 60 und 49 Zählern.
Drittschnellster im Qualifying war der Schwede Mattias Ekström. Der Audi-Pilot profitierte im Zeittraining von einem Fehler seines Markenkollegen Timo Scheider. Der Lahnsteiner überquerte im ersten Durchgang des vierstufigen Qualifyings die Ziellinie 0,168 Sekunden zu spät. Diese Rundenzeit wurde gestrichen und Scheider musste das Zeittraining als 15. beenden. Dadurch rutschte Ekström auf den entscheidenden 14. Platz vor und schaffte den Sprung in die nächste Qualifikations-Runde. Bei Timo gab es sicher einen Fehler in der Kommunikation. Ich weiß, wie es ist, als 15. zu starten. Da macht der Sonntag nicht so viel Spaß. Ich freue mich über Startplatz drei und versuche nun, mich im Rennen um zwei Plätze nach vorn zu arbeiten, sagte Ekström.
Bester Pilot eines Fahrzeugs des Jahrgangs 2008 wurde Mercedes-Benz-Pilot Jamie Green (GB) als Vierter. Mike Rockenfeller (Audi), ebenfalls in einem Fahrzeug des selben Jahrgangs unterwegs, beendete das Qualifying auf Platz fünf.
