CROATIA RALLY – FIRST LEG

Croatia Rally started under the banner of the European champions Luca Rossetti and Matteo Chiarcossi, who with their Grande Punto Abarth with Michelin tires have dominated the first leg winning all the four special stages run.

Renato Travaglia was immediately forced to retire due to an engine problem to his Skoda, the fight for second place was between Piero Longhi (Skoda) and Luca Betti (Peugeot), who took turns behind the Abarth driver and ended the leg divided by just two tenths of a second: an important gap because this gave 2 more points more (for the leg results) to Longhi in the European championship standings.

In the wake of the three Italians are Polish Oleksowicz (Ford) and Bulgarian Iliev (Skoda), while the first local driver, Croatian Niko Pulic is sixth. Andrea Dallavilla (9 th overall) leads in Gr.N and is very close to Maciej Rzeznik (Subaru R4), while Slovenian Rok Turk with the Peugeot 207 R3T leads between the 2 wheel drive cars.

It is worth mentioning the great start of Juraj Sebalj (Mitsubishi): the three-time winner of the race was fifth overall after the first two special stages, but lost 12′ on the third test.

Also noteworthy is the fact that Mauro Patrucco (Mitsubishi) lost a lot of time on the last special stage last night due to a malfunction of his lamp pods.

Luca Rossetti: Everything is going very well. I also took this opportunity to try out some alternative solutions in view of my next event in the Italian championship, the Targa Florio, which has an itinerary and a surface similar to today’s stages".

Piero Longhi: The set-up is not completely right, but I am satisfied.

Niko Pulic: It is my first race this year and I do not know the car well: I am extremely happy with my result.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC IN RIJEKA TO MEET THE STARS OF RALLY CROATIA

The President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipovic wanted to greet the protagonists of Rally Croatia before the start of the race. The President arrived in the town centre of Rijeka at 12.30, at the end of the shakedown, and spent about half an hour with the drivers in the start podium area.

His visit has honoured the drivers and the organizers, and that is even more significant since the president found the way and the time to be in Rijeka despite the international institutional commitments set for the afternoon in the Croatian capital.

In the afternoon the Mayor of Rijeka, Vojko Obersnel, waved the start flag to Luca Rossetti and Matteo Chiarcossi, who opened the list of starters tackling today the first 4 stages of the competition with a return in Rijeka from 22.59.

Three entered drivers have not started. Michal Solowow due to the unavailability of the Mitsubishi Lancer R4, and also Frenchman Cyril Vosalho (Subaru Impreza) and Slovenian Uric Petric (Citroen C2)

Grand Prix de Pau zurück im Formel-3-Kalender

Nach einer Pause von einem Jahr wird am kommenden Wochenende wieder der Grand Prix de Pau ausgetragen. Auf der nur 2,76 Kilometer kurzen, aber sehr engen und selektiven Strecke durch das südfranzösische Pau bestreiten die Youngster der Formel 3 den dritten Lauf der neuen FIA Formula 3 International Trophy. Als Tabellenführer fährt Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) an den Fuß der Pyrenäen. Daniel Abt (Signature) und Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam) teilen sich nach zwei Auftaktrennen, die drei Wochen vor dem Grand Prix de Pau im Rahmen der Formel 3 Euro Serie auf dem Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg stattfanden, punktgleich den zweiten Rang.
Von der Formel 3 Euro Serie werden insgesamt sieben Fahrer am diesjährigen Grand Prix de Pau teilnehmen, der eine lange Tradition hat. Neben Merhi, Abt und Juncadella stellen sich auch Laurens Vanthoor (Signature), Carlos Muñoz (Signature), Kimiya Sato (Team Motopark) und Marco Wittmann (Signature) dem Wettbewerb. Außerdem bringt das Team Motopark Tom Dillmann an den Start. Alle außer Wittmann und Dillmann sind auch für die FIA Formula 3 International Trophy eingeschrieben, in der die drei Erstplatzierten der Gesamtwertung am Ende der Saison die Formel-1-Superlizenz erhalten.
Die Formel 3 Euro Serie war zuletzt 2008 in Pau. Damals gelang dem aktuellen DTM-Piloten Edoardo Mortara der erste Triumph eines Volkswagen-Motors in der Geschichte der Euro Serie. Der Brite James Jakes, der mittlerweile in die amerikanische IndyCar-Serie aufgestiegen ist, entschied das turbulente erste Rennen des Pau-Wochenendes 2008 für sich.
Daniel Abt (Signature): Ich war zwar noch nie in Pau, aber ich weiß natürlich, dass es ein sehr enger Stadtkurs ist, der keine Fehler verzeiht. Trotzdem gehe ich zuversichtlich in das Pau-Wochenende, denn in Macau war ich Ende 2010 in einer vergleichbaren Situation: Ich kannte die Stecke, die der von Pau sehr ähnlich ist, nicht und war trotzdem auf Anhieb schnell.

Nelson Panciatici’s nice come back in race

The third challenge of the World Series by Renault Championship took place for the first time as a round of the FIA WTCC Championship on the Monza track in Italy.

Nelson Panciatici and his KMP Racing team all arrived full of determination to race in the first free practices on Friday but unfortunately, from the very first spin of the wheels, performance was not to be found.

After checking and testing everything on Nelson Panciaticis car and not the slightest improvement to the problem, the KMP team led by Bruno Besson decided, after a first qualifier to the back of the grid, to change the engine and get rid of any possible doubts. They had to forgo the first race because the second qualifier would start, quite exceptionally, a few hours after the finish and they would have run out of time.

Despite a 19^th place which bears no reflection on the quality of the KMP Racing team, a definite improvement was noticeable as Nelson Panciatici was finally able to make some good times.

After a chaotic start at the lights-out where several drivers pre-empted him quite seriously, Nelson found himself down below 20^th place before he pulled himself back into the ranks to 7^th and to top it off with the 3^rd best time in the race just 1 tenth behind first.

Nelson Panciatici: It was a difficult weekend because we were far from imagining such a sequence of events, the whole team was outstanding and I want to thank them. It paid off in the end because I had an incredible car for the second race, I overtook a dozen cars and a few more laps would have been even better, I really enjoyed myself.

If the Team Manager of KMP Racing, Bruno Besson, was disappointed, he still has confidence because: the great race Nelson performed shows our real potential but its frustrating to see that we can be in the front positions and then everything goes wrong this weekend. We were looking for grip the whole time and were as perplexed by this as the results were good during the winter trials when Nelson and Anton Nebylitskyi were very fast. Nevertheless, we leave Monza on a high note and it bodes well for the future. The whole team is gunning for a battle to the end!

The next meeting for Formula Renault 3.5 will be on the F1 circuit in Monaco on 27, 28 and 29 May.

LO formel lista junior: Vorschau Redbull A1 Ring LO flj

Die LO formel lista junior Serie ist zu Gast auf dem neu erstellten Redbull A1 Ring. Am kommenden Wochenende finden in Österreich die Wertungsläufe 3 und 4 der Saison 2011 statt.

Das Rennwochenende in der Steiermark könnte interessant werden, da doch während der Umbauzeit des Redbull A1 Rings keine Motorsportaktivitäten und Fahrtrainings mehr möglich waren. Für die Teilnehmer der LO flj bedeutet dies, sich möglichst gut mit der Strecke vertraut zu machen und das Fahrzeug in kürzester Zeit abzustimmen.

Joan Perelló ha concluido su participación en la cuarta prueba del Mundial de Motociclismo, celebrada este fin de semana en el Circuito de Le Mans, con su segundo abandono de la temporada. Tras una desafortuna clasificación, con problemas técnicos en su Aprilia RSW125R del Matteoni Racing, ocupó la penúltima plaza de la parrilla de salida, una posición que a la larga le impidió terminar en las posiciones habituales. Tras la salida pudo recuperar algunas posiciones hasta que los problemas técnicos volvieron a surgir a cuatro vueltas del final, viéndose obligado a retirarse.

Joan Perelló: La última fila de la parrilla de salida no es la mejor posición para empezar la carrera. Tras unas vueltas tuve un pequeño encontronazo con un piloto que me hizo perder algo de terreno, pero me recuperé y conseguí adelantar cuatro posiciones, hasta que un piloto más lento, al que no pude superar frenó mi progresión. A falta de cuatro vueltas se rompió la moto y tuve que retirarme. Espero hacerlo mejor en la próxima carrera, que se celebra el 5 de junio en España.

CROATIA RALLY: 59 ENTRIES LED BY THE REIGNING EUROPEAN CHAMPION

A legitimate satisfaction for the organizers of the Croatia Rally who have a total of 59 entries in the event, an uncommon figure for the country, about half of which are foreign crews. There are 16 crews registered for the FIA European Rally Championship, including all the main candidates for the 2011 title, starting with the reigning European champion and current leader of the series, Luca Rossetti and Matteo Chiarcossi on the Grande Punto Abarth, the 2006, 2009 and 2010 European Champion car.

In the race there will be all the main models of Super 2000 cars: Abarth Grande Punto, Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 207, Skoda Fabia. Among the favourites for the overall victory are also the two-time European champion Renato Travaglia, former Italian national champions Piero Longhi and Andrea Dallavilla, former European 2WD champion, Czech Anton Tlustak, former Bulgarian champion Dimitar Iliev and outstanding drivers such as Polish Maciej Oleksowicz, Italian Luca Betti, Polish Szymon Ruta, Frenchman Cyril Vosalho, Croats Niko Pulic and Juraj ebalj, Slovenian Rok Turk, Hungarian Janos Szylagyi.

It is worth noting that thanks to the organizers‘ decision to offer a free entry to female crews, there will be two such teams at the start, one from Bulgaria, Ekaterina Sratieva and Blagovesta Milanova and one from Croatia, Lana Sutlović and Anamarija Pozojević.

The Croatia Rally is valid for the FIA European Rally Championship, the FIA Central European Trophy, for the Croatian Regional Rally Championship and for the Croatian Rally Championship.

The competition, based in Rijeka, will be held from Thursday to Sunday this week.

Superleague Formula gibt die ersten vier Fahrer der Saison 2011 bekannt

Die Superleague Formula verkündete heute die ersten vier Fahrer, die in der Saison 2011 im Superleague Formula World Cup unterwegs sind.

Die Meisterschaft startet am 4. und 5. Juni in Assen in den Niederlanden und der britische Fahrer Craig Dolby, der die vergangenen zwei Saisons als Vizemeister abgeschlossen hat, ist unter diesen ersten Namen, die bekanntgegeben wurden.

Ich habe sicherlich noch eine Rechnung offen, nachdem ich in den letzten zwei Saisons so nah am Titel war, sagte Dolby: Ich habe ein Ziel für 2011 und das heißt am Ende der Saison ganz oben auf dem Podium zu stehen.

Eine der größten Entscheidungen war es, bei Alan (Alan Docking Racing) zu verbleiben. Wir hatten einige Angebote, aber das Team ist wie eine große Familie und es war der einzig richtige Weg für mich. Da ist ein richtiger Wille im Team, die Meisterschaft zu gewinnen, mehr als jemals zu vor und es scheint, als ob jeder begeistert ist und Spaß hat. Es ist eine großartige Umgebung zum Arbeiten.

John Martin ist ein weiterer Rückkehrer 2011 und wie sein Teamkollege Dolby ist auch er optimistisch für seine Aussichten in diesem Jahr. Ich kann es kaum abwarten, wieder ins Auto zu steigen und den Sound des V12 zu hören, sagt der Australier: Ich beendete die vorige Saison mit einem Hoch. Ein Sieg im ersten Rennen und dem Super Final in Navarra. Außerdem habe ich in der Winterpause hart trainiert, um auf meine alte Form mit sechs Siegen, zehn Podiums, zwei Poles und zehn Starts aus der ersten Reihe aus dem Jahr 2010 aufzubauen."
Es besteht kein Zweifel, wenn ich die Saison so begonnen hätte, wie ich sie beendete, wäre ich ein Meisterschafts-Anwärter gewesen. Der Kalender mit den Rennen in Russland, China, Brasilien und dem Mittleren Osten dieses Jahr ist sehr interessant. Am Meisten freue ich mich aber auf das Rennen in Neuseeland am Ende der Saison, das so dicht an meiner Heimat ist. Australier und Neuseeländer haben eine enge Beziehung zueinander und ich weiß, dass viele meiner Freunde in Australien mich unterstützen werden. Hoffentlich kann ich es mit dem Sieg der Meisterschaft zu einem unvergesslichen Wochenende machen.

Ein anderer ehemaliger Rennsieger ist der deutsche Fahrer Max Wissel, der die Saison 2009 als Dritter beenden konnte und 2011 wieder in der Superleague Formula unterwegs ist.

Neu ist hingegen der Tscheche Filip Salaquarda, der nach einem erfolgreichen Wintertest für das Team Atech Reid GP unterwegs sein wird.

HUFF STAKES AN EARLY CLAIM ON THE TITLE

Rob Huff walked out of Monza with two more victories and a gap of 36 and 41 points respectively ahead of his team-mates Yvan Muller and Alain Menu, which equates to staking an early claim on the world title.
Huff achieved something that had only been done twice before since WTCC was launched: a double win in the same weekend. The two precedents dated back to 2005 (Jörg Müller at Magny-Cours) and 2007 (James Thompson at Valencia).
Huff also took the most out of the crushing supremacy the Chevrolet Cruze cars showed on the fast track of Monza, and managed not to crack under the relentless pressure that Muller and Menu put on him.
Over the 18 laps of the two races, Huff did not commit the slightest mistake, never opened the smallest gap and always kept the most favourable line.
Chevrolet might have outpaced the rest of the field, but the races in Monza were far from boring. Competition between the SEAT and BMW drivers was exciting. Tiago Monteiro, Norbert Michelisz and Kristian Poulsen were the stars among the pursuers, while bad luck disappointed Gabriele Tarquini and Tom Coronel.
As for Robert Dahlgren, on the fastest track in the WTCC calendar, he could do nothing to close the gap between his normally-aspirated Volvo and the turbo cars. His actual season will kick off when the team make the switch to the new engine.
In the meanwhile, it is not hazardous to predict that the following races may contribute to further heat up the atmosphere at the Chevrolet team.
The championship will resume at Budapest, Hungary, on June 5^th for rounds 7 and 8.

FBM – Crónica Velocidad Llucmajor

Este domingo 15 de mayo se ha recuperado para el motociclismo balear el trazado "grande" del Circuito Renn Arena de Llucmajor, con el "Premio Autoescuela Marratxí", que ha sido organizado por el Motoclub Muro. La climatología, muy adversa, con fuerte viento, frío y cielo muy nuboso, con pequellas lluvias intermitentes, ha mantenido el asfalto muy frío, pero a pesar de toso se han podido ver carreras interesantes en las siete categorías convocadas, Open 4 Tiempos, 125GP, 125 PreGP, Open 80, MiniGP 70, Supermoto y Minimotard Senior.

Open 4 Tiempos

Alberto Bauzá fue el más rápido en la categoría más potente del regional de motociclismo, destinada a motos de 4 tiempos. Ganó las dos carreras por delante de Andrés ÁLvarez y Toni Morell, que empataron a 36 puntos. Quedaron en este mismo orden debido al mayor valor de la segunda manga. Jorge Jaume y Juan Rogelio Lagar también tuvieron un bonito duelo por la cuarta plaza, ocupándola finalmente Jaume por un solo punto de diferencia. Luis García fue quinto, seguido por Mattihas de la Morena, John de la Morena, Joan Mateu Riutort, Ángel Fernández y Raúl Pérez.

125GP / 125 PreGP

Estas dos categorías han corrido juntas debido a los pocos incritos. Bernat Crespí se ha impuesto en las dos mangas de 125GP a Miquel Pons, que no ha podido puntuar en la segunda. En 125 PreGP Diego Pérez se ha llevado los 50 puntos en juego al ser el único piloto en esta categoría.

Open 80 / MiniGP 70

También corrieron juntas estas dos categorías, formando una parrilla conjunta de ocho pilotos. Xairo Casanova se impuso entre las 70cc con dos triunfos, mientras que Vicente Romera ocupaba la segunda plaza con una sola manga acabada. Entre las 80cc, merecido triunfo de Paquita Ruiz que se impuso al resto de pilotos, ocupando la segunda posición en la primera carrera y venciendo en la segunda. Segunda plaza para Onofre Quijada por un solo punto sobre Daniel Buades, que fue tercero. Diego Pérez, con una victoria en la primera manga, ocupó la cuarta plaza al no conseguir puntuar en la segunda. Guiem Soler fue quinto y Enric Bellaescusa sexto.

Supermoto

Miguel Fiol ha conseguido dos victorias, ocupando la segunda posición un espectacular Toni Truyols, que nos ha deleitado con sus derrapajes. Bruno Fernández y Edgar Pons han empatado a 29 puntos, subiendo al tercer escalón del podio Bruno, mientras que Edgar era cuarto.

Minimotard Senior

Esta categoría ha contado con doce pilotos inscritos. Tras el término de las dos mangas el vencedor fue Joan Mir que consiguió los 50 puntos, completando el podio Onofre Quijada y Miguel Ángel Daviu. Estos tres pilotos repitieron la posición en cada una de las carreras. Víctor Trillo fue cuarto, precediendo al resto de pilotos, Luis García, Juan Luis Izquierdo, Joaquín López, Juan A. Vidal, David Villena, Toni Soler, Joaquín Guerrero y Víctor José Velez.

NUEVO DOBLETE DE ALEX PALERM EN EL REGIONAL DE KARTING

Este domingo se ha disputado la segunda prueba puntuable para la Copa Mallorca de Karting en el Circuito de Magalluf donde ha participado el piloto Alex Palerm en la categoría Senior.
El joven piloto del equipo Diabolo Karting no ha dado opciones a sus rivales y desde los entrenamientos ha marcado el ritmo y se ha clasificado en primera posición para la carrera.
Tanto en la primera manga como en la segunda, Palerm ha rodado con gran autoridad, marcando el mejor tiempo de pista y marchándose rápidamente sin dar opción al resto de participantes, anotándose las dos mangas de carrera con una importante diferencia con el segundo clasificado.
Dos nuevas victorias dentro del regional de Karting que hacen un total de seis mangas como primer clasificado en las pruebas regionales disputadas hasta la fecha.
El equipo se prepara ahora para la siguiente prueba del Campeonato de España y con la vista puesta en el Europeo, donde esperan ver el resultado de todo el trabajo que están realizando tanto físico como técnico con el piloto.

Socías sigue líder en la Copa Vallés

Los organizadores del Campeonato de Karting de la Región de Murcia no quisieron empezar la carrera de San Javier sin antes mostrar su solidaridad con los afectados por el terremoto de Lorca, de cuya localidad hay un equipo que participa en dicho certamen. De esta manera todos los participantes guardaron un minuto de silencio antes de iniciar la competición. Pasando al plano deportivo la jornada del sábado servía a los equipos de la categoría Cadete para poner a punto sus respectivos karts puesto que las dos carreras se disputarían en el domingo.

La adaptación de Miguel Socías al trazado murciano de San Javier fue bastante rápido y el balear comprobaba en los entrenamientos que los adelantamientos eran tarea casi imposible, basando su estrategia en marcar un buen ritmo en los cronometrados. Las diferencias en los primeros puestos eran mínimas, aunque los mecánicos de La Manga Racing hicieron un gran trabajo y el piloto de PPB acababa tercero del murciano y el primero de la Copa Vallés.

Si el sábado el sol mostraba sus mejores colores con temperaturas más propias del verano, el domingo amanecía nublado bajando la temperatura de la pista y cambiando sustancialmente los reglajes. No hubo sorpresas en el warm up acercándose Miguel Socías al poleman lo que hacía presagiar una buena carrera. Realizaba una buena salida y desde los primeros compases de carrera se instalaba a espaldas del segundo clasificado a quien presionaba durante toda la carrera cruzando la bandera a cuadros prácticamente pegados. Así pues, el mallorquín acababa la primera carrera en tercer lugar y se hacía con la victoria en la Copa.

La segunda carrera se disputaba en condiciones de lluvia. Socías partía desde la segunda plaza tras lograr el segundo mejor tiempo en la carrera anterior y en la segunda curva se colocaba líder hasta que en el cuarto giro empezaría el calvario para el piloto de Can Ramis que veía como los neumáticos empezaban a desfallecer lo que le costaba un total de cinco posiciones concluyendo en el sexto lugar, segundo de la Copa Vallés. A pesar de este "pinchazo" el balear mantiene la primera plaza provisional de la copa.

Tras bajar del podio Miguel Socías expresaba: "Esta carrera y ambos podios se los dedico con mucho cariño a mi tío Juan que falleció hace unos días y a mi familia que a pesar del duro momento que atraviesa me ha permitido estar aquí. He intentado estar arriba en cada carrera, lástima que nos equivocamos con las presiones en la segunda. Esperábamos que la pista se mantuviera mojada, pero se secó rápidamente y las gomas no aguantaron. Aún así podemos mantener el primer puesto, pero no hay que bajar la guardia en ningún momento."

Zanella doubles up at Magny-Cours

Christopher Zanella completes Magny-Cour double to lead F2 series

Christopher Zanella completed a clean sweep of the silverware in rounds three and four of the 2011 FIA Formula Two Championship at Magny-Cours, promoting him to the top of the drivers standings.
After winning Saturdays rain-affected round three, the 21-year-old Swiss driver today secured his second consecutive win in round four, closely followed by Brit Alex Brundle, son of former Grand Prix racer Martin, and Mirko Bortolotti.
Zanella held off a charging Brundle at the start and protected his lead throughout the 24-lap race at the former Formula One Grand Prix, whilst Bortolotti and an impressive Mihai Marinescu kept them in check. Brundle tried very hard to close on the F2 rookie, running wide at one point but the Swiss driver led confidently, buoyed by his performance from yesterday.

Miki Monras was held back at the start by Ramon Pineiro and it took several laps for the Spaniard to pass him. Once he completed the move he caught up with the leading quartet. Stalking Marinescu for several laps he made a move in the dying moments to take fourth place, but it wasn’t enough to protect his championship lead.

Behind the leading pack, newcomer Jon Lancaster continued a fine debut, making his way up to sixth place and finishing just ahead of fellow Briton Will Bratt. Tobias Hegewald was the last man to take advantage of Pineiro’s drop down the field, although Jack Clarke tried very hard but had to settle for 10th place.

The race was held in dry conditions, in contrast to yesterday’s opener and although some spots of rain were reported in the pitlane, it wasn’t enough to trouble the competitors.
Speaking after the race, Zanella said: I like this track a lot and Im very happy to be leading the championship. I had a good start in the race and had a little fight with Brundle going into the first corner. After that I pushed a bit for three or four laps to make a gap. After that I tried to drive consistently.

Premieren-Sieg für Mike Rockenfeller in Zandvoort

Zandvoort. Auf diesen Sieg hat er lange gewartet. Mike Rockenfeller feierte in seinem 44. DTM-Rennen seinen ersten Triumph. Der 27-jährige Audi-Pilot aus Neuwied startete den zweiten DTM-Lauf der Saison 2011 im niederländischen Zandvoort von Platz drei, zeigte ein fehlerfreies Rennen mit einer perfekten Boxenstopp-Strategie und fuhr nach 41 Runden als Sieger über die Ziellinie. Ich bin erleichtert. Hockenheim war sehr frustrierend nach einem guten Qualifying und dem schlechten Rennen. Glücklicherweise haben wir das Problem gefunden und gelöst. Das Resultat war ein gutes Qualifying und ein tolles Rennen. Der Grundstein heute war der Start, dazu zwei super Stopps und eine gute Pace, sagte ein überglücklicher Rockenfeller.
Auf Platz zwei beendete der Gesamtführende Bruno Spengler in der AMG Mercedes C-Klasse den ersten Auslandsauftritt der aktuellen DTM-Saison. Spengler startete von der Pole-Position, verlor seinen ersten Platz jedoch nach dem ersten von zwei Pflichtboxenstopps. Bei der Zieldurchfahrt setzte er sich nach einem packenden Duell hauchdünn vor dem Drittplatzierten, Martin Tomczyk im Audi A4 DTM, durch. Den Sieg haben wir leider verschenkt. Die Pace vor dem ersten Stopp war gut und ich konnte Mike wegfahren. Nach dem Stopp war Mike allerdings vor mir, und ich konnte ihm nicht mehr folgen. Trotzdem ist es kein schlechter Tag. Einen zweiten Platz in Zandvoort habe ich bisher nicht geschafft, erklärte Spengler, der den DTM-Auftakt in Hockenheim gewann und seinen Vorsprung in der Gesamtführung ausbauen konnte.
Martin Tomczyk wurde als Dritter bester Pilot eines Fahrzeugs des Jahrgangs 2008 und begeisterte die Zuschauer mit beherzten Angriffen und Überholmanövern. Die Bemühungen wurden belohnt. In der Gesamtwertung liegt er hinter Rockenfeller auf Platz drei.
Der Brite Jamie Green verlor beim Start seinen zweiten Platz und wurde im Verlauf des Rennens auch von Tomczyk überholt. Der Mercedes-Benz-Fahrer wurde vor dem zweifachen DTM-Champion Timo Scheider (Audi) Vierter. Audi-Pilot Edoardo Mortara aus Italien fuhr als DTM-Neueinsteiger bereits in seinem zweiten Rennen mit Platz sechs erstmals in die Punkte. Hinter ihm folgten Maro Engel (Mercedes-Benz) und Mattias Ekström im Audi A4 DTM. Der Schwede startete als Sechzehnter und erkämpfte als Achter noch einen Punkt.
Das dritte DTM-Rennwochenende des Jahres findet vom 3. bis 5. Juni im österreichischen Spielberg statt.
Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, Motorsportchef Audi: Rocky ist ein souveränes Rennen gefahren und ich freue mich sehr für ihn. Wir waren schon vor dem Rennen optimistisch und hatten uns vorgenommen, in Zandvoort zu gewinnen. Auch Martin hatte einen sehr guten Speed. Toll, dass Edoardo bei seinem zweiten Rennen schon in den Punkten ist. Das war eine Super-Leistung vom Team und unsere Pace hat insgesamt gestimmt
Norbert Haug, Motorsportchef Mercedes-Benz: Der Speed von Audi war heute gut. Aber es war nicht nötig, hier zu verlieren. Wir haben zehn der letzten 13 Rennen gewonnen, und es kann nicht immer klappen. Wären wir mit Bruno eine Runde früher reingekommen, hätten wir gewonnen. Aber der zweite Platz ist schon okay.
